FAQsPending verification
Does AFMC have its own entrance exam, or is it just NEET?
Both. The brochure states candidates must mandatorily qualify NEET UG 2026 conducted by NTA, and shortlisted candidates then undergo AFMC's own screening at Pune: ToELR, PAT, interview and medical examination. Treating AFMC as 'just NEET' will leave you unprepared for the second half.
How is the final merit calculated?
The brochure defines Written Examination Score as the NEET (UG) 2026 score (max 720 marks) added to the ToELR score (max 80 marks) divided by 4, giving a score out of 200. Final Score is the written examination score (max 200) plus interview marks (max 50). PAT is a qualifying test only and its score is not used for the final merit list. Separate merit lists are drawn for boys and for girls.
What exactly is ToELR?
A Test of English Language and Reasoning, held as a computer based test at AFMC Pune: 40 multiple-choice questions of 2.0 marks each for a maximum of 80 marks, to be answered in 30 minutes, with 0.5 marks deducted for every incorrect answer.
How do I apply - is there an AFMC form?
No separate AFMC form. The brochure requires eligible candidates to register and apply for AFMC, Pune on the DGHS website mcc.nic.in during the registration window provided by DGHS.
What is the age limit?
You should have attained 17 years at the time of admission or be completing that age on or before 31 December of the year of admission to the first year of MBBS, and must not have attained 24 years on that date. The 2026 brochure states this as born not earlier than 01 January 2003 and not later than 31 December 2009.
What marks do I need in class 12?
The brochure requires passing the qualifying examination in the first attempt with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology taken simultaneously, with not less than 60% of the aggregate marks in the three science subjects taken together, not less than 50% in English and 50% in each science subject, plus a pass in Mathematics at the tenth standard.
Do I have to serve in the Armed Forces afterwards?
Yes. Admission carries a compulsory liability to serve as a Commissioned Officer in the Armed Forces Medical Services. The brochure states Short Service Commission officers passing out of AFMC serve 7 years and Permanent Commission officers serve until superannuation, and that parents or guardians sign a bond agreement for Rs 71,00,000 at admission.
When are the AFMC dates?
AFMC's 2026 Information Brochure publishes no dates at all. Registration happens in the window DGHS opens on mcc.nic.in, and the exact screening schedule with the list of shortlisted candidates is published on www.afmcdg1d.gov.in and www.afmc.nic.in. The brochure also warns candidates to be ready to move at short notice and that interview dates are not changed except in exceptional circumstances.
Final eligibility and dates are always subject to the latest official notification. Content marked “Pending verification” is not presented as verified advice.
