Who actually conducts AME CET?
UDAI AVIATION PRIVATE LIMITED, a company incorporated under the Companies Act, 2013. Its own About Us page states this, and states that the company has been administering the common entrance examination since 24 October 2017. It is a private company, not a government body or a regulator.
Is AME CET approved by DGCA?
No, and the conducting company says it does not need to be. Its About Us page states that because UDAI AVIATION PRIVATE LIMITED does not impart aviation training itself, DGCA approval is not applicable for conducting a common entrance examination. What can carry DGCA approval is the institute you join, not the entrance test.
So what should I actually check before joining a course through AME CET?
The approval status of the specific institute and course you are offered. AME CET's own page tells students to verify the current approval, recognition, facilities, aircraft availability, course structure and eligibility requirements of the selected institute before taking admission. Check that directly with DGCA, UGC or AICTE as applicable.
What is the exam pattern?
90 multiple-choice questions carrying 360 marks, in 1 hour 30 minutes. The subject split depends on your qualification stream: 10+2 PCM, 12th Non PCM, 10th pass, or engineering diploma / B Tech.
How many times can I take AME CET?
The maximum number of attempts is limited to three, and the candidate must be between 14 and 28 years of age at the time of admission.
What does the registration cost?
INR 1600 for male candidates of the General and OBC categories, and INR 1400 for female candidates of all categories and for SC/ST candidates. The site states the fee is the same in online and offline mode.
Does a good rank in AME CET give me a licence?
No. AME CET awards an All India Rank that decides admission and a tuition fee scholarship band at a participating institute. It is not a licensing examination. AME CET also states the scholarship applies to first semester tuition fees only and is given only after taking admission through AME CET counselling.
