This does not mean Army Public School TGT/PGT shares nothing with the exams you are preparing for — only that we have not loaded a chapter-by-chapter syllabus we can compare against, so we will not guess. We compare 0 exams whose official syllabus we have traced to the conducting body, and this one is not among them yet.

Eligibility

Planning reference — verify the current detailed notice

THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO UNDERSTAND, AND THE ONE STUDENTS GET WRONG: the AWES exam is a TWO-STEP process and step one is not a job. (1) HQ AWES conducts the Online Screening Test and issues a SCORE CARD to candidates who clear it. (2) Individual Army Public Schools then advertise their own vacancies and select from among score-card holders. The Army Public School Shillong selection-procedure page, an AWES-run school, describes it plainly: HQ AWES notifies the OST on its website every year in August/September for regular as well as contractual appointments; the school then conducts a Combined Selection Board (CSB) interview for PGTs, TGTs and PRTs for all vacancies of regular appointments, held in December-February for candidates who clear the OST, under the aegis of the Board of Administration; suitable advertisements are placed in newspapers and on the school website giving out the list of vacancies by category and subject; and selected teachers undergo probation for a maximum of two years. A Local Selection Board (LSB) is separately conducted in January-March for term contracts not exceeding three academic sessions and in May/June for ad-hoc appointments not extending beyond the last day of the current academic session. So: a score card gets you the right to be interviewed by schools that have a vacancy in your subject. It does not place you anywhere. You must track and apply to individual Army Public Schools yourself. SECOND CAUTION: StudyBddy could not load AWES's own eligibility, pattern and pay documents from awesindia.com in this pass, so the corresponding sections of this record are marked official_source_pending rather than filled with unverified figures. Read the OST notification and general instructions on awesindia.com directly.

Next examination date has not yet been published in StudyBddy's verified official record. The date above is historical—not an upcoming deadline.

AWES's own official registration portal records that registration for the Online Screening Test 2025 was open from 5 June 2025 to 16 August 2025. An Army Public School's official selection-procedure page states that HQ AWES notifies the OST on its website every year in the month of August/September — this is a description of the Society's general practice, NOT a published date, and StudyBddy will not convert it into one. As of 30 July 2026 no OST examination date for the next cycle had been verified from an official AWES document. Watch awesindia.com for the notification. Also note the downstream calendar the school page describes: CSB interviews for regular appointments run December-February, LSB for term contracts January-March, and LSB for ad-hoc appointments May/June — so clearing the OST is followed by a months-long, school-by-school process.

How to apply
Open official application page
  1. 1Watch awesindia.com for the Online Screening Test notification — an AWES-run school's official page states HQ AWES notifies the OST on its website every year in August/September.
  2. 2Download the OST notification and the general instructions from awesindia.com and read the eligibility and paper blueprint there — StudyBddy could not retrieve these documents in this research pass, so they are the authoritative source for age, qualification and exam pattern.
  3. 3Register on the AWES OST registration portal linked from awesindia.com. You may apply for a maximum of three posts (PRT, TGT and PGT) with only one subject or stream in each.
  4. 4Upload a recent photograph, your signature, proof of date of birth (Class 10 marksheet or birth certificate) and Aadhaar details, plus a PwBD certificate if applicable.
  5. 5Pay the registration fee online — OST 2025 charged ₹385 through UPI, card or net banking.
  6. 6Appear for the Online Screening Test and download your SCORE CARD from the portal when results are released.
  7. 7UNDERSTAND THAT YOU ARE NOT YET APPOINTED. Now track individual Army Public Schools: they advertise their own vacancies by category and subject in newspapers and on their school websites.
  8. 8Apply to the schools whose advertised vacancy matches your subject and score card, and appear for the Combined Selection Board interview (December-February for regular appointments) or a Local Selection Board (January-March for term contracts, May/June for ad-hoc). Regular appointees serve probation for up to two years.
FAQs
If I clear the AWES screening test, am I appointed as an Army Public School teacher?

No — and this is the most common misunderstanding about this exam. The Online Screening Test conducted by HQ AWES gives you a SCORE CARD. Appointment is a separate second step made by individual Army Public Schools. As an AWES-run school's official selection-procedure page describes it, the school conducts a Combined Selection Board interview for PGTs, TGTs and PRTs against its own advertised vacancies, held December-February for candidates who clear the OST, under the aegis of the Board of Administration, and vacancies are advertised in newspapers and on the school website by category and subject. You must find and apply to those schools yourself.

How is this different from KVS or NVS recruitment?

Completely different. KVS and NVS are autonomous organisations under the Ministry of Education, their posts carry 7th CPC pay-matrix levels and Group classifications, and their recruitment produces a merit list leading directly to appointment. Army Public Schools are run by the Army Welfare Education Society; HQ AWES only screens, and each school hires. There is no central merit list that places you in a school.

What are the appointment categories in Army Public Schools?

Three, per an AWES-run school's official page. Regular appointment, made through a Combined Selection Board interview, with probation for a maximum period of two years. Term contract, made through a Local Selection Board conducted January-March, for a term not exceeding three academic sessions. Ad-hoc appointment, made through a Local Selection Board conducted in May/June, with tenure not extending beyond the last day of the current academic session.

How many posts can I apply for in one OST?

A maximum of three — PRT, TGT and PGT — with only one subject or stream in each, per the official AWES OST 2025 registration portal.

What is the exam pattern and syllabus for the OST?

StudyBddy has not published one, because it could not be verified. AWES publishes an official 'Online Screening Test — Blue Print of Question Paper' and general instructions on awesindia.com, but every attempt to retrieve those documents in this research pass failed (robots.txt fetch failures on awesindia.com sub-paths and HTTP 403 from the contractor-hosted copy). Rather than reproduce figures from coaching sites, this record leaves the pattern and syllabus marked as pending. Download the blueprint from awesindia.com.

What salary do Army Public School teachers get?

This record does not state one. Army Public School pay is set by AWES and the school management, not by a Central Government pay matrix, and no official AWES pay document could be retrieved in this research pass. Salary figures circulating on coaching sites are not verified. Ask the specific school advertising the vacancy, and read the terms in its advertisement.

When is the AWES screening test held?

No date is published in this record. AWES's own registration portal records that registration for OST 2025 ran from 5 June 2025 to 16 August 2025, and an AWES-run school's page states that HQ AWES notifies the OST in August/September each year — but that is a description of practice, not a published date, and StudyBddy does not convert an annual pattern into a date. Check awesindia.com for the notification.

Final eligibility and dates are always subject to the latest official notification. Content marked “Pending verification” is not presented as verified advice.
