We cannot line BSNL JTO/JAO up against other exams yet
This does not mean BSNL JTO/JAO shares nothing with the exams you are preparing for — only that we have not loaded a chapter-by-chapter syllabus we can compare against, so we will not guess. We compare 0 exams whose official syllabus we have traced to the conducting body, and this one is not among them yet.

How to applyPending verification
- 1Read the advertisement in full and confirm you meet the qualification, age and colour-vision conditions on the closing date of receipt of application.
- 2Apply online only through the link on the BSNL examination portal during the registration window. No manual or paper application is accepted.

FAQsPending verification
Is BSNL JTO recruited through GATE?
No, not in the 2026 cycle. BSNL's advertisement dated 26.05.2026 says candidates 'shall have to undergo Computer based-Multiple Choice-Objective Type Test' set by BSNL, and BSNL's notification of 31.07.2026 fixes that CBT for 23 August 2026 with admit cards from BSNL's own examination portal. There is no GATE score requirement in the advertisement. Prepare for BSNL's own CBT.
What is the paper pattern?
One Computer Based Test of 3 hours in a single shift, with three sections: Engineering Stream Section - I, 50 questions for 200 marks; Engineering Stream Section - II, 50 questions for 200 marks; and General Ability Test Section - III, 20 questions for 80 marks. That is 120 questions for 480 marks. Each correct answer earns 4 marks and each wrong answer loses 1 mark.
What are the qualifying marks?
Unreserved and OBC (Creamy Layer) candidates need 40% in each Section and 50% across all three sections combined. SC/ST, OBC (NCL), PwBD and EWS candidates need 35% in each Section and 45% combined. Falling short in any single section keeps you out of the merit list even if your total is high.
Who can apply and what is the age limit?
Indian nationals with a Bachelor of Engineering degree or equivalent in Telecommunications, Electronics, Radio, Computer, Electrical, Information Technology or Instrumentation, or an M.Sc. in Electronics or Computer Science. Age is minimum 20 and maximum 30 years as on the closing date, with 33 for OBC (NCL) and 35 for SC/ST, and further relaxation for PwBD and serving BSNL employees.
Is there a service bond?
Yes. Selected candidates execute a bond of Rs. 6 lakhs to serve BSNL for at least five years from the date of appointment as Junior Telecom Officer. Probation is two years.
What about the JAO paper in this row's name?
StudyBddy publishes no BSNL Junior Accounts Officer scheme. On 4 August 2026 BSNL's careers page and its external examination portal carried no JAO advertisement - only JTO (Telecom) Direct Recruitment and Senior Executive Trainee. Watch the BSNL careers page for a JAO notification rather than relying on an old pattern.
Final eligibility and dates are always subject to the latest official notification. Content marked “Pending verification” is not presented as verified advice.
