Worth preparing alongside

We cannot line DMRC JE/AM up against other exams yet

This does not mean DMRC JE/AM shares nothing with the exams you are preparing for — only that we have not loaded a chapter-by-chapter syllabus we can compare against, so we will not guess. We compare 0 exams whose official syllabus we have traced to the conducting body, and this one is not among them yet.

Medical Standards

Medical standards are as per the Indian Railway Medical Manual; a brief detail of the medical standards is published on DMRC's website. Junior Engineer/Electrical, for example, was advertised at Aye-one (A-1) category, not below Aye-three (A-3).

Posting

Candidates after selection are likely to be posted anywhere in India.

Organisation Scale

DMRC described itself in the 2019 advertisement as employing about 14,500 people, with MRTS activities spread over Delhi-NCR carrying about 3 million passengers per day, and as providing consultancy services to a number of cities in India and abroad.

How to apply
Open official application page
  1. 1Watch DMRC's own careers page. The advertisement states that dates of the CBT, the result and all recruitment related information are available only on DMRC's website, and that candidates must remain in constant touch with it.
  2. 2Read the advertisement's post table and identify your post code. Qualification, age band, pay scale, vacancies and medical standard all differ by post code.
  3. 3Register online within the registration window and upload the documents asked for, including the qualifying marks certificate or last semester marks sheet in the size and format the advertisement specifies.
  4. 4Pay the online application fee through the payment gateway to which the form redirects you, and keep the payment confirmation. In the 2019 cycle the fee was Rs. 500 for UR, EWS and OBC candidates including Ex-servicemen and Rs. 250 for SC/ST, PwBD and women candidates, both non-refundable and exclusive of transaction processing charges.
  5. 5Download the admit card for the CBT yourself. The link is also sent to the candidate's registered email, but the responsibility to download it is the candidate's.
  6. 6Sit the CBT - Paper-I and Paper-II on the same day at the same centre - and qualify in each paper separately.
  7. 7If called, attend the further stage for your post group: Group Discussion and/or Personal Interview for Executive posts, Psycho test for Customer Relations Assistant, Skill Test for Stenographer.
  8. 8Clear the medical examination in the prescribed standard. Selection by DMRC does not by itself confer any right to appointment, and issue of an admit card or passing a stage is provisional only.
FAQs
Does DMRC recruit Assistant Managers on GATE scores?

Not in the advertisement StudyBddy has read. DMRC's open-market advertisement DMRC/HR/RECTT./I/2019 does not mention GATE anywhere. It sets out DMRC's own Computer Based Test of two papers, followed by Group Discussion and/or Personal Interview and a medical examination for Executive cadre posts. Prepare for DMRC's own CBT.

What does the DMRC CBT look like?

Two papers on the same day at the same centre. Paper-I has 120 multiple-choice questions, bilingual in Hindi and English, on General Awareness, General Intelligence & Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and knowledge of your discipline or trade, in 1.5 hours. Paper-II has 60 objective questions on General English in 45 minutes. Each question in a paper carries equal marks, and one-third of the marks is deducted for every wrong answer. Maintainer posts sit one paper only.

Do I have to clear both papers?

Yes. Candidates must qualify separately in Paper-I and Paper-II. Those who then rank high enough within the zone of consideration are called category-wise, on the overall merit of both papers together, for the next stage at Delhi/NCR.

How do Assistant Manager and Junior Engineer differ?

Assistant Manager is an Executive cadre post, advertised in 2019 in the IDA pay scale Rs. 50000-160000, needing an engineering or other relevant degree with 60% marks and, for the technical disciplines advertised then, two years of post-qualification work experience. Junior Engineer is a Non-Executive post in the IDA pay scale Rs. 37000-115000, needing a three-year Engineering Diploma. Assistant Manager selection adds a Group Discussion and/or Personal Interview after the CBT; Junior Engineer selection goes from CBT straight to medical.

Is a DMRC recruitment open right now?

No mass open-market Executive and Non-Executive drive was open on 4 August 2026. DMRC's careers board carried individual advertisements instead - mostly deputation, post-retirement contractual engagement, and direct recruitment for experienced candidates. Those targeted advertisements describe a written examination and a medical examination but publish no question count, marks or duration.

Where will the exam date be announced?

On DMRC's own website. The advertisement says dates of the CBT, the result and all recruitment related information are available only there, and that call letters are intimated by email and SMS on the registered email and phone number.

Final eligibility and dates are always subject to the latest official notification. Content marked “Pending verification” is not presented as verified advice.
