Is there a written exam for ECIL Technical Officer?
No. ECIL's Technical Officer on Contract advertisements describe walk-in selections only. The selection method is registration at the venue, document verification, and a personal interview. There is no objective paper, no online test and no negative marking.
Is ECIL Technical Officer recruited through GATE?
No. Neither Advt. No. 06/2026 nor Advt. No. 09/2026 mentions GATE anywhere. Selection is on ECIL's own merit formula of qualification percentage, post-qualification experience and personal interview.
How is the merit calculated?
Merit is A+B+C. A is 20% of the aggregate percentage in B.E./B.Tech. B is relevant experience worth up to 30 marks — for Technical Officer on Contract, 10 marks for the initial 1 year of experience and 10 marks for each further year, capped at 30 including the initial one. C is the Personal Interview, worth 50 marks.
What qualification and experience do I need?
B.E./B.Tech. with a minimum of 60% in aggregate, relaxed to 50% for SC/ST candidates subject to availability of such reserved posts, plus 1 year of post-qualification experience. Apprenticeship in the relevant field, up to a maximum of one year, counts as experience. Experience from academic institutions, colleges, internships or project work does not count.
What is the age limit?
30 years for UR candidates, with 3 years' relaxation for OBC, 5 years for SC/ST, a further 10 years for PwBD candidates with 40% disability or more, and 5 years for candidates ordinarily domiciled in Jammu & Kashmir from 01/01/1980 to 31/12/1989. The cut-off date for age and post-qualification experience is the date of selection.
What does the post pay?
Consolidated emoluments of Rs. 25,000 per month in the first year, Rs. 28,000 per month in the second year and Rs. 31,000 per month in the third and fourth years, plus reimbursement of medical insurance premium, Company PF, TA/DA while on official duty and paid leave as per extant rules. The engagement is on a fixed tenure contract for an initial one year, extendable up to 4 years including the initial term.
Is a Technical Officer walk-in open right now?
No. As of 4 August 2026 ECIL's job openings page carries no open Technical Officer walk-in. The walk-ins under Advt. No. 06/2026 (24.02.2026) and Advt. No. 09/2026 (15.06.2026 and 18.06.2026 by zone) have passed. ECIL advertises these at short notice, so its Careers column should be checked regularly.
