How to applyPending verification
- 1Open the current advertisement on the EPFO Recruitments page and confirm post, age, qualification, typing or stenography standard and category eligibility before paying anything.
- 2Apply through the online mode only. The advertisements state that an application in any other mode shall not be accepted and that only one application is to be submitted per post; if more than one is submitted, only the last one is taken into account.
- 3Pay the prescribed fee online. In the 2023 cycle it was Rs. 700, with SC, ST, PwBD, female candidates and Ex-Servicemen exempt. Fee once remitted is not refunded under any circumstances.
- 4Upload photograph, signature and thumb impression strictly as per the 'Upload Image Instructions'; a non-compliant image leads to rejection of the application.
- 5Use the correction window if one is provided. In 2023 it ran from 27 to 28 April 2023, and no change of particulars was accepted afterwards.
- 6Keep an active personal mobile number and email ID, since all recruitment communication is sent by SMS and email and no change is entertained at any stage.
- 7Download the admit card from the official websites named in the advertisement; no admit card is sent by post.
- 8Carry the admit card and at least one photo identity proof to the examination centre.
- 9If you are serving in a Government Department, EPFO or a PSU, obtain a No Objection Certificate in advance and produce it at document verification.

Who conducts the EPFO SSA and Stenographer examination - EPFO, UPSC or SSC?
EPFO is the recruiting authority. For the 2023 cycle the examination was conducted by the National Testing Agency on behalf of EPFO, as printed on the cover page of both advertisements and repeated in the official result notice. Nothing opened in this research showed UPSC or SSC conducting this examination.
Is this the same exam as UPSC EPFO Enforcement Officer / Accounts Officer?
No. That is a different set of EPFO posts with its own separate StudyBddy record. Social Security Assistant and Stenographer are Group-C posts recruited under their own advertisements.
Is there a current SSA or Stenographer vacancy?
No. As on 3 August 2026 the EPFO Recruitments page carries no newer SSA or Stenographer direct-recruitment advertisement. The 2026 entries relate only to posting category and ranks of the SSAs recruited against the 2023 vacancies.
Does the skill test count towards merit?
No. For both posts the Stage-II skill test is qualifying in nature and its marks are not reckoned for merit ranking. Merit is prepared from the Phase-I computer-based examination.
What is the qualifying mark in Phase-I?
Both advertisements state only that qualifying marks in Phase-I will be decided at the discretion of EPFO, and that cut-offs are applied both on individual test scores and on the total score. No fixed percentage is published.
What was the Stenographer 2023 cut-off?
EPFO published a final cut-off score of 98.5278107 for UR, 95.4067430 for OBC-NCL, 95.1763314 for EWS, 93.4374678 for SC and 84.7046087 for ST.
Why was the SSA result declared twice?
The result declared on 3 January 2024 was found to carry discrepancies in the 'Selected Category' of some reserved-category candidates who had availed age relaxation. That result was withdrawn and cancelled and a modified result was released on 12 January 2024.
