How to applyPending verification
- 1Confirm the route for the cycle you are targeting. For NORCET-11 the ESIC Recruitments page itself carries the notice and links to the AIIMS advertisement.
- 2Open the ESIC-specific advertisement attached to the NORCET notice - not the AIIMS or JIPMER one - because the vacancies, age rule and relaxations differ by participating organisation.
- 3Confirm you hold the essential qualification AND the State Nursing Council registration on or before the closing date. Registration is mandatory in both qualification routes, and for the GNM route you also need one year's experience in a hospital of at least fifty beds, acquired after the qualification.
- 4Apply online only, from www.aiimsexams.ac.in, between the published dates. If you have registered under OTR in any previous examination you must apply using that same old ID; a different registration ID gets the application rejected.
- 5Pay the fee online - Rs. 3000 for General/OBC, Rs. 2400 for SC/ST/EWS, exempt for PwBD. SC/ST candidates who appear in the examination get the fee refunded after results.
- 6If you are in Government, semi or quasi Government, PSU, autonomous or Government-funded employment, including on contract, upload the No Objection Certificate by the notified deadline. Missing it can bar you from the examination entirely.
- 7Hold a valid, correctly dated OBC-NCL or EWS certificate in the Central Government format for the specified financial year; a state-purpose OBC certificate is not accepted.
- 8Download the examination city intimation and then the admit card on the published dates; no admit card is sent by post. Bring the admit card to the centre and hand it to the invigilator after the examination.
- 9Sit Stage-I NORCET Preliminary, and if called, Stage-II NORCET Main. Only Stage-II decides merit.
- 10When choices are invited, fill ESIC and only those options you will actually join - failing to join an allocated seat mandatorily cancels your candidature for that NORCET.
- 11Attend ESIC's document verification when notified, with originals and one self-attested photocopy set.

Does ESIC conduct its own Nursing Officer exam?
Not in the current cycle. ESIC Nursing Officer posts are filled through the Nursing Officer Recruitment Common Eligibility Test (NORCET) conducted by AIIMS New Delhi. ESIC Headquarters issues an ESIC-specific advertisement under the NORCET notice, and ESIC remains the appointing authority.
Do I need to be registered with a Nursing Council?
Yes. Registration is mandatory in both qualification routes. Route A requires B.Sc. (Hons) Nursing, or a regular B.Sc Nursing course, or Post Basic B.Sc Nursing from a recognized University or Institute, and registration as a nurse or nurse and mid-wife with the State Nursing Council. Route B requires a Diploma in General Nursing Mid-wifery from a recognized Board or Council, registration as a nurse or nurse and mid-wife from the State Nursing Council, and one year of experience in a hospital of at least fifty beds acquired after that qualification.
By when must my registration and experience be complete?
On or before the closing date of the online application. The advertisement is explicit that course completion, internship, declaration of result and Nursing Council registration must all be done by that date, as must any required experience.
What is the age limit?
Not exceeding 30 years, reckoned on the closing date of online registration, with 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, 10 years for PWBD (13 for PWBD+OBC and 15 for PWBD+SC/ST, capped at age 56), and up to 5 years for regular ESIC employees and Government servants.
Which stage decides my rank?
Stage-II NORCET Main only. Stage-I NORCET Preliminary is a qualifying stage and is not used for merit; it only decides who is called for Stage-II, at roughly 5 times the seats in each category.
How many ESIC vacancies are in NORCET-11?
523 in total - UR 210, OBC 140, SC 80, EWS 53 and ST 40 - with an 80:20 bifurcation of 418 female and 105 male, and 20 PwBD posts included horizontally.
Was ESIC Nursing Officer always recruited through AIIMS?
No. ESIC's own site hosts a document-verification form headed 'Recruitment to the post of Nursing Officer in ESIC through UPSC-2024', so the 2024 route ran through UPSC. Confirm the route for the cycle you are applying to.
