  1. 1Sign up online at https://techadmissionshry.gov.in within the registration window and note the unique application number generated - it is needed for all later communication.
  2. 2Fill in the particulars online. They must exactly match the particulars registered in the qualifying examination.
  3. 3Upload a coloured photograph (JPG/JPEG, maximum 30 KB) and signature (JPG/JPEG, maximum 20 KB).
  4. 4Upload a scanned PDF of the Detailed Marks Certificate (DMC) of class 10 for date of birth verification, the DMC of the qualifying examination, and other documents relevant to your category, for verification and confirmation of the online filled application by the designated centres as per the notified schedule.
  5. 5Clearly opt for the course - B.E./B.Tech. (Lateral Entry) - and for any special category such as KM, TFW or EWS.
  6. 6Give a personal mobile number and email ID; all advisories and admission notifications are sent to them.
  7. 7Haryana candidates must supply the PPP ID, which is mandatory for registration and for confirmation of category and annual income.
  8. 8Submit three choices of OCET centre and three shift choices in the online form.
  9. 9Pay the registration fee online before the deadline.
  10. 10After submission you can check and edit your registration details; verify that the photograph, signature and DMC uploaded are your own.
  11. 11Download the admit card from the portal on the notified date - HSTES does not send admit cards to candidates - and appear at the allotted centre.
  12. 12After the unique inter-se rank is displayed, log in with the unique application number and password to fill and lock choices for online centralized off-campus counselling.
FAQs
Does Haryana still hold its own lateral entry entrance test?

Yes. HSTES conducts the Online Common Entrance Test, OCET-2026, itself. The 2026 admission brochure states that admissions to B.E./B.Tech. (Lateral Entry) 2026 are made on the basis of the inter-se-rank of OCET-2026, and prints a full scheme and syllabus for it under the heading 'Entrance Test for B.E./B.Tech. (LEET) - 2026'.

Is 'LEET' the same thing as 'OCET'?

Yes, for this route. HSTES uses LEET for the lateral entry route and OCET-2026 for the online common entrance test through which lateral entry candidates are ranked. The brochure uses both names for the same test.

What does the paper look like?

One 90-minute computer-based paper of 90 questions and 90 marks - Section A Basic Sciences 25 marks (questions 1-25), Section B Electronics stream 25 marks (26-50), Section C Mechanical stream 20 marks (51-70), Section D other engineering streams 20 marks (71-90). All questions are multiple choice with four options and one correct answer, asked in English. There is no negative marking.

Who can apply?

Diploma holders with at least 45% (40% reserved category) in any branch of engineering and technology; B.Sc. graduates with at least 45% (40% reserved category) who passed 10+2 with Mathematics; and B.Voc / 3-year D.Voc. candidates in the same or allied sector or holders of an NCVT approved diploma.

What does it cost to apply?

Rs 1000 for the General Category and Rs 700 for reserved categories. The fee is paid online and is never refunded. Without it your application is rejected and you cannot sit the test.

Are marks normalised across shifts?

No. The brochure is explicit that normalization of results across the various shifts is not applicable and that requests for it will not be entertained.

What happens if two candidates score the same?

Higher marks in Mathematics rank higher; then Physics; then the aggregate of the engineering subjects of the OCET; then the senior in age; and finally the alphabets of the candidate's name and parents' names.

Is there any official practice material?

The brochure says NIC conducts a mock test for this Online Common Entrance Test on https://techadmissionshry.gov.in and advises candidates to attempt it. No past OCET or LEET papers are published in the brochure.
