Interview
RequiredCandidates shortlisted from the exam are called for an interview on campus. IIIT Hyderabad states: 'The decision on final offer of admission is solely based on the interview performance and the decision of the interview committee is final.'

Seat allotment rounds
RequiredOnly qualified applicants are eligible for seat allotment. Qualified applicants - those found suitable in the interview - are ranked on their interview performance as judged by the interview panel. In each round the applicant has a deadline to accept by paying the requisite fees, or to decline; a seat not paid for by the deadline is treated as declined. An applicant who gets no seat in a round may continue to the next round after giving consent, which requires a one-time payment of Rs 10,000 for seat allocation and Rs 10,000 as an advance towards tuition fee.

What does UGEE get me admission to?
The five-year dual degree programmes at IIIT Hyderabad, in which the graduate earns two degrees - a B.Tech and a Master of Science by Research, the Masters requiring a research thesis. The six programmes are ECD, CSD, CLD, CND, CHD and CGD.
What is the exam structure?
A three-hour computer-based exam in two sections: SUPR, a Subject Proficiency test of 60 minutes, and REAP, a Research Aptitude test of 120 minutes. There is negative marking of 25% in both sections.
How does shortlisting work?
Applicants are filtered on their SUPR performance first, then ranked on REAP score to shortlist for the interview. The final offer of admission is based solely on interview performance, and the interview committee's decision is final.
Who is eligible?
Candidates who passed class 12 or equivalent with Maths, Physics and Chemistry between 2023 and June 2026. Anyone who passed in 2022 or earlier was not eligible for the 2026 cycle.
What should I study?
The syllabi for SUPR and REAP are based on 11th and 12th level Physics, Maths and Chemistry, following CBSE and most state syllabi. REAP places emphasis on testing critical and creative thinking, so it is not a standard subject paper. IIIT Hyderabad publishes sample questions for both sections and a mock test.
What does it cost to apply?
The non-refundable application fee is INR 3,100 for male applicants and INR 1,550 for female applicants.
Can I hold a UGEE seat and a JEE seat at IIIT Hyderabad at the same time?
No. You may apply through multiple modes, but you can accept, pay for and hold only one seat, in one mode and one programme. If you accept a UGEE seat and later get a JEE seat, you must give up the UGEE seat first, after which you are no longer eligible for further UGEE rounds.
