How to applyPending verification
- 1Register on the IMU-CET registration portal reached from imu.edu.in — the prospectus states that for admission to IMU campuses and affiliated / non-affiliated institutes the IMU-CET rank is compulsory, so candidates must register to take IMU-CET and secure a rank.
- 2Complete the registration in the order IMU prints: Registration Page, Payment Gateway, State Selection, Application Form, City Selection.
- 3Note that IMU runs two distinct registration windows: Window 1 for Registration and State Selection, and a later window for the rest.
- 4Enter Class 12 exam marks and upload the scanned mark sheet before the closing date for registration — the prospectus warns that online registrations without them are treated as incomplete.
- 5Pay the application fee for registration, which the prospectus records as non-refundable and as being for the issue of the CET Rank Certificate. If you are applying to two streams with separate portals, you must pay the registration fee for both.
- 6Download the Admit Card when notified; it shows which of the two shifts you have been allotted.
- 7After the rank list is published, register on the online counselling portal, which IMU hosts only after the rank list is released.

Who conducts IMU CET, and does it still exist?
Indian Maritime University conducts it itself. IMU-CET 2026 was held on 24 May 2026, results were declared on 14 June 2026, and IMU published cut-off percentiles on 17 June 2026 under the signature of its own Controller of Examinations.
Why does IMU-CET matter beyond IMU's own campuses?
The prospectus cites DGS Training Circular 12 of 2020, dated 01.04.2020, under which all Maritime Training Institutes regulated by the Directorate General of Shipping are required to admit candidates on the basis of the IMU-CET rank. IMU issues a Rank Certificate to qualified candidates, which the prospectus calls essential for admission to IMU courses and its affiliated institutes.
What is the paper like?
For UG technical programmes it is 200 multiple-choice questions covering English, General Aptitude, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at 12th grade level. The MBA paper is 120 multiple-choice questions on quantitative ability, data interpretation, verbal ability and reasoning. The M.Tech paper is 120 multiple-choice questions on English, Mathematics and one engineering subject. Negative marking applies: 0.25 mark is deducted for every wrong answer.
Why were there two shifts, and how were scores compared?
IMU conducted the 2026 UG test (except BBA) in two shifts on 24 May 2026 — 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM — with one paper per shift. Because difficulty may differ, IMU applied a normalization procedure based on percentile score, transforming marks to a 100-to-0 scale within each shift so that a candidate's percentile shows the percentage of candidates in that shift who scored equal to or below them.
What were the 2026 cut-off percentiles?
For UG (DNS, B.Sc, B.Tech) programmes: General 60, General-EWS 54, OBC-NCL 54, SC 45 and ST 45.
What do I need for B.Sc. (Nautical Science) or B.Tech. (Marine Engineering)?
10+2 or equivalent with a PCM average of at least 60% and at least 50% in English in the 10th or 12th examination, unmarried marital status, a valid IMU CET rank, and medical fitness under the Merchant Shipping (Medical Examination) Rules, 2000. Maximum age for males is 25 for General, 28 for OBC(NCL) and 30 for SC/ST; for females 27, 30 and 32, counted from 01.08.2026.
Is IMU-CET needed for BBA?
No. The prospectus records 'BBA: No Entrance test; 12th grade marks'. BBA admission ran on a rank list and a First Come First Serve portal in 2026.
When is IMU-CET 2027?
IMU had announced nothing as of 3 August 2026. In the 2026 cycle the prospectus appeared in early March, registration ran from 5 February to 28 April after an extension, and the test was on 24 May. Watch imu.edu.in rather than assuming those dates repeat.
