Worth preparing alongside

We cannot line Karnataka KMAT up against other exams yet

This does not mean Karnataka KMAT shares nothing with the exams you are preparing for — only that we have not loaded a chapter-by-chapter syllabus we can compare against, so we will not guess. We compare 0 exams whose official syllabus we have traced to the conducting body, and this one is not among them yet.

FAQs
Is KMAT a Karnataka government exam?

No. KMAT is conducted by the Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges Association, a private association of colleges. Its own site says the test is permitted by the Government of Karnataka and monitored in line with a Supreme Court judgment, and that the association uses it to fill the management quota of seats in its member institutions. Karnataka PGCET, the state government's postgraduate common entrance test, is a different exam.

Do I need a Karnataka domicile?

No. KPPGCA states that registration is open to candidates from all over the country regardless of domicile state.

Where is the test held?

Nowhere. The official Test Centers page says KMAT is now taken from home as a Remote Proctored Internet-Based Test, and the FAQ states there will be no test centres.

Is there negative marking?

No. The official FAQ states every correct answer is awarded +1 mark with no negative marking, and that net scores with percentile are shown on the score card.

How many sections does the paper have?

The association's own pages disagree. The Test Structure page describes three sections of 40 questions each, while the FAQ page describes four sections including General Awareness. Both pages agree on 120 questions in 120 minutes with free movement between sections. Treat the section split as unsettled until KPPGCA publishes a single figure.

How often is KMAT held?

Once a year, according to the official FAQ.
