The Karnataka State Police Recruitment page states that in the Subordinate Police Service, Sub-Inspector of Police is filled by direct recruitment and promotion and Police Constable by direct recruitment, while Police Inspector, Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police and Head Constable are filled by promotion. Above them, the Karnataka State Police Service is filled by direct recruitment through the Karnataka Public Service Commission or by promotion, and the Indian Police Service by the UPSC combined competitive examination or by promotion.

Six constable-level notifications for 2026-27: Police Constable (Civil) for 596 posts in Kalyana Karnataka and 3395 posts in Non-Kalyana Karnataka, both open to men, women and transgender candidates and to in-service candidates; Armed Police Constable (CAR/DAR) for men, 1421 posts in Non-Kalyana Karnataka and 179 in Kalyana Karnataka; and Special Reserve Police Constable, 1455 posts in Non-Kalyana Karnataka and 859 in Kalyana Karnataka. No Sub-Inspector notification is open.

The Police Sub-Inspector (Civil) recruitments for 545 and 402 posts were completed under the Recruitment 2021 portal. Provisional select lists were published on 21 October 2024 for the 545 posts and on 26 December 2024 for the 402 posts, each under a Karnataka State Government letter; corrigenda followed in June and August 2025; and the final select lists were published on 25 August 2025 for the 545 posts and 9 September 2025 for the 402 posts. A provisional select list of meritorious sports persons for PSI and PC (Civil) posts followed on 3 November 2025.

Karnataka prescribes them inside each Kannada notification, and those notifications are scanned image PDFs with no text layer, so they could not be read here. Physical standards decide whether you are eligible at all — read the notification for your own post and region, linked from ksp.karnataka.gov.in, rather than trusting a figure from any secondary source.

The Karnataka State Police's own Sub-Inspector marks portal publishes 'Marks Details of Paper 1 & Paper 2 for the Posts of Sub-Inspectors from the Year 2014 to 2019', so the written examination has had two papers. The number of questions, marks, duration and negative marking are not published in English on any official page, so they are not recorded here. Official notices from the Recruitment 2021 cycle also refer to an Endurance Test and a Physical Standard Test alongside the written examination.

Not on any official recruitment page read for this record. The force publishes notifications, eligibility lists, call letters, select lists and corrigenda, and it publishes candidates' marks for Sub-Inspector recruitments from 2014-15 to 2020-21 on score.ksp-recruitment.in, but no question papers.
