Does NHPC recruit Junior Engineers through GATE?
No. NHPC's notification NH/Rectt./04/2025 is for 'recruitment of Non-executives in NHPC Ltd. through Computer Based Test' and sets out NHPC's own paper. GATE is used for a different post, Trainee Engineer, in NHPC's executive cadre.
Can a B.Tech graduate apply for NHPC Junior Engineer?
Not without the diploma. NHPC states that a higher technical qualification like B.Tech/B.E. without the essential qualification, i.e. without a full time regular three-year Diploma, is not eligible or allowed.
What does the Junior Engineer paper look like?
200 questions in 180 minutes for 200 marks, in English and Hindi: 140 MCQ of the concerned discipline, 30 MCQ on General Awareness and 30 MCQ on Reasoning. One mark per correct answer and 0.25 negative for a wrong answer.
What is the minimum score to stay in the running?
40% of total marks for Gen./OBC/Gen-EWS and 35% of total marks for SC/ST/PwBD. Clearing that only makes you eligible for consideration; selection is on merit of the online test.
What is the age limit?
30 years as on the last date of application for every post advertised under NH/Rectt./04/2025, with the usual category relaxations.
Is there an interview?
No interview is described. After the CBT, provisionally selected candidates are called for Document Verification at NHPC Corporate Office, Faridabad, with biometric authentication, and then given a provisional Offer of Appointment.
