We cannot line NID DAT (B.Des/M.Des) up against other exams yet
This does not mean NID DAT (B.Des/M.Des) shares nothing with the exams you are preparing for — only that we have not loaded a chapter-by-chapter syllabus we can compare against, so we will not guess. We compare 0 exams whose official syllabus we have traced to the conducting body, and this one is not among them yet.

FAQsPending verification
Is the DAT common across all NID campuses?
Yes. The DAT Prelims is common for all NIDs. Individual NIDs use the DAT Mains score for admission to their respective campuses.
Does the DAT Prelims score count towards final admission?
No. The Prelims score is used only to shortlist candidates for DAT Mains and is NOT carried forward as weightage. Final merit is based solely on DAT Mains.
What is the B.Des DAT Mains format and weightage?
Studio Sensitivity Test (60%) + In-Person Sensitivity Test (40%). Candidates must appear for both.
What is the M.Des DAT Mains format and weightage?
Studio Test (40%) + Interview (60%). Candidates must appear for both. The Studio Test is common per faculty stream; interviews are discipline-wise.
How many candidates are shortlisted for B.Des DAT Mains?
1.5 times the total number of seats available under each category, based on DAT Prelims merit (with applicable tie-break policy).
Does NID release past DAT question papers?
No. NID does not share the DAT question booklet or answer key (stated as highly subjective). Only official DAT Prelims sample papers are provided on the admissions portal.
In which language is the DAT conducted?
English only, for both Prelims and Mains.
What is the rechecking fee for DAT Prelims?
Rs. 2000 (per discipline for M.Des). Rechecking is limited to verifying whether all answers were marked and whether the marks totalling/transfer was correct; no re-evaluation is done.
Final eligibility and dates are always subject to the latest official notification. Content marked “Pending verification” is not presented as verified advice.
