- 2If already registered, check application acceptance on 24 August 2026, exam-city information on 3 September and the admit card on 9 September through the AIIMS examination portal.
- 3Pay the application fee - per NORCET-8 and NORCET-9: Rs. 3000 for General/OBC, Rs. 2400 for SC/ST/EWS, exempted for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (SC/ST candidates receive a refund after appearing in the examination, subject to certificate verification).
- 4Use the edit/correction window if provided, then download the Stage I admit card.
- 5Appear for Stage I (Prelims). If you clear the qualifying percentile, appear for Stage II (Mains) - the merit list is drawn from Stage II performance only.
- 6Take part in the online institute allocation on the basis of NORCET rank, then complete document verification and joining formalities at the allotted institute.

How many stages does NORCET have?
Two computer-based stages in the recent editions: Stage I NORCET Preliminary (100 MCQs, 100 marks, 90 minutes) and Stage II NORCET Mains (160 MCQs, 160 marks, 180 minutes in NORCET-8 and NORCET-9). Only Stage II performance is used for the merit list.
Is nursing council registration compulsory?
Yes. Both eligibility routes in the NORCET advertisement require the candidate to be 'Registered as Nurses & Midwife with State / Indian Nursing Council'. Diploma (GNM) holders additionally need 'Two Years' Experience in a minimum 50 bedded Hospital'.
What is the pay for a Nursing Officer selected through NORCET?
Level 07 in the Pay Matrix (pre-revised Pay Band-2 of Rs. 9300-34800 with Grade Pay of Rs. 4600/-), classified as Group-B, as printed in the NORCET-6, NORCET-8 and NORCET-9 advertisements.
Is there negative marking?
Yes, in both stages: '1/3 marks for each wrong answer'.
