We cannot line ONGC AEE up against other exams yet
This does not mean ONGC AEE shares nothing with the exams you are preparing for — only that we have not loaded a chapter-by-chapter syllabus we can compare against, so we will not guess. We compare 0 exams whose official syllabus we have traced to the conducting body, and this one is not among them yet.

Qualification pathway
Clear each applicable stage in order
Final selection or admission still depends on the published cutoff or merit list and any applicable counselling, document, medical, preference and vacancy rules.
Selection sequence
- 1
Computer Based Test (CBT)
RequiredCBT score is used to shortlist candidates in a 1:5 ratio for the Personal Interview. Where multiple candidates secure the minimum cut-off marks, all of them are shortlisted in relaxation of the ratio. To qualify in the CBT, General/EWS/OBC candidates must score a minimum of 45% marks and SC/ST/PwBD candidates a minimum of 40%.
- 2
Personal Interview
RequiredTo qualify in the interview, General/EWS/OBC candidates must score a minimum of 60% i.e. 9 marks out of 15, and SC/ST/PwBD candidates a minimum of 40% i.e. 6 marks out of 15.
- 3
Medical Examination
RequiredCandidates who qualify in the interview are called for medical examination in order of their relative rank in the merit list. An offer of appointment is issued only to candidates declared medically fit; mere appearance in the medical examination confers no right to appointment.

FAQsPending verification
Does ONGC still recruit Assistant Executive Engineers through GATE?
Not in the current cycle. Advt. No. 2/2026 (R&P) is titled 'Recruitment of Geologists and Engineers at E1 level through Computer Based Test (CBT)' and selection runs on ONGC's own CBT, a Personal Interview and a Medical Examination. ONGC did use GATE scores for this recruitment up to the GATE-2023 cycle (Advt. No. 1/2024), and moved to its own CBT from Advt. No. 1/2025 onward.
How many questions are in the ONGC CBT and how long is it?
85 multiple choice questions in 2 hours: 40 on the concerned domain, 10 General Awareness, 25 Aptitude and 10 English Language. There is no negative marking.
What score do I need to qualify?
In the CBT, General, EWS and OBC candidates need a minimum of 45% marks and SC/ST/PwBD candidates a minimum of 40%. In the interview, General/EWS/OBC candidates need 60% (9 of 15 marks) and SC/ST/PwBD candidates 40% (6 of 15 marks). Both must be cleared separately to be empanelled.
How much does the CBT score count in the final result?
The CBT carries 85 marks and the interview 15, out of 100.
Which streams are being recruited in 2026 and how many posts?
Five streams with 52 posts in total: Mechanical Engineering 27, Chemical Engineering 10, Petroleum Engineering 9, Geology 4 and Instrumentation Engineering 2.
Can I apply for more than one stream?
No. The advertisement allows an application for only one academic/engineering stream. If several applications are submitted, the latest is taken as final and the earlier ones are rejected.
Final eligibility and dates are always subject to the latest official notification. Content marked “Pending verification” is not presented as verified advice.
