Notes
These are admission tests for Panjab University's LL.B., B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), B.Com. LL.B. (Hons.) and LL.M. programmes, not recruitment examinations. The Department of Laws runs its own Placement Cell, but placement is an outcome of the degree, not of the entrance test.

How to applyPending verification
- 1Identify your test first: UGLAW if you are applying after 10+2 for the 5-year integrated course, PGLAW if you hold a degree and want the 3-year LL.B., PU-CET (PG) if you hold a law degree and want the LL.M.
- 2Register online on the relevant test portal — https://uglaw.puchd.ac.in, https://pglaw.puchd.ac.in or https://cetpg.puchd.ac.in.
- 3Check your email for the Login Id and Password generated at registration.
- 4Log in and pay the entrance test fee, either online or by downloading a fee challan and depositing it at any branch of State Bank of India (the challan route requires depositing a minimum of one day after printing the challan).
- 5After successful payment, complete the form: upload a scanned passport-size photograph and signature, fill in the remaining information, then Save and Confirm. Once confirmed, no change to the form is permitted by way of any addition, deletion, alteration or amendment.
- 6If claiming a fee concession under SC/ST/PwD or as a Class B/C regular employee of PU, post or hand-deliver a printout of your form with the self-attested category certificate to the Assistant Registrar, CET Cell, Aruna Ranjit Chandra Hall, Panjab University, Chandigarh-160014, by the stated deadline.
- 7Download your admit card from the portal once downloads open.
- 8Sit the entrance test. Answer only on the OMR sheet — only questions answered on the OMR sheet are taken into account.
- 9If you qualify, apply for admission separately on https://onlineadmissions.puchd.ac.in on or before the last date shown at https://onlineadmissions.puchd.ac.in/importantdates.php. Qualifying the entrance test alone does not complete your admission.
FAQsPending verification
Is 'PU LLB/LLM Entrance' one exam?
No. Panjab University runs three separate law entrance tests through its CET Cell, each with its own portal and schedule: UGLAW for the 5-year B.A. LL.B. and B.Com. LL.B. (Hons.) integrated courses, PGLAW for the 3-year LL.B., and PU-CET (PG) for the LL.M. Choose the right one before you start preparing.
What is on the PU-LL.B. (3 Years) paper?
One objective paper of 1 hour and 30 minutes for 100 marks, answered on an OMR sheet. Current Affairs and General Knowledge carries 30 marks, Legal Aptitude 40 marks, and Reasoning Ability and Knowledge of English 30 marks. There is negative marking: one mark for a correct answer and one-quarter mark deducted for a wrong one. Questions are available in Hindi and Punjabi as well, though the medium of instruction is English only.
What is on the LL.M. paper?
The LL.M. paper sits inside PU-CET (PG) and runs 1 hour 30 minutes for 100 marks across five components of 20 MCQs each: Public Law, Criminal Law, Civil Law, Commercial Law and Other Laws. The Criminal Law component is set on the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita and Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam among others, so prepare the new criminal codes rather than the older ones.
What marks do I need to make the LL.B. merit list?
The University publishes the merit list on the basis of attaining a minimum of 20% of the aggregate of maximum marks in the Entrance Test taken as a whole, or 15% for candidates belonging to SC/ST/BC/PwD.
Does the entrance test alone get me admitted?
No. The prospectus states that the result of the Entrance Test shall, ipso facto, not entitle a candidate to get admission, and that it is the candidate's responsibility to confirm eligibility. After qualifying you must separately apply for admission at onlineadmissions.puchd.ac.in by its own deadline.
Can I get into the 3-year LL.B. with a compartment in my qualifying exam?
No. The Handbook of Information states plainly that applicants having a compartment in their qualifying examination shall not be eligible to join the LL.B. course irrespective of their clearing the entrance test.
What does the entrance test cost?
For PU-LL.B. (3 Years) the fee is Rs. 2850 for the General Category and Rs. 1425 for SC/ST/PwD candidates, with a 50% concession for Panjab University regular employees under B & C Class. The fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.
Where is the test held?
UGLAW and PGLAW are held at Chandigarh; the PGLAW prospectus specifies Chandigarh only. PU-CET (PG) is held at Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Hoshiarpur and Muktsar. Note that the courses themselves are taught at the Department of Laws in Chandigarh and at the regional centres in Muktsar, Ludhiana and Hoshiarpur.
