How to applyPending verification
- 1Open the registration gate from the counselling portal home page and accept the Terms & Conditions before creating an account.
- 2Choose your program, domicile and qualifying basis, and enter personal details exactly as printed on your qualifying certificates.
- 3Verify the one-time password sent to your registered mobile number. The mobile number stays locked afterwards.
- 4Complete address, reservation or category, and qualification marks. Claim reservation at this point — if none is claimed you are treated as a General Candidate.
- 5Upload photo, signature, qualifying certificates and reservation proofs in the prescribed formats and sizes.
- 6Pay the counselling fee of Rs. 2,000 through the prescribed payment gateway. Candidates who already paid the registration fee on admissions.ptu.ac.in do not pay again.
- 7Lock your documents and submit the application with the final declaration. After this, fields cannot be edited without an unlock request.
- 8Fill choices for college, program and branch in order of preference, and lock them before the round window closes.
- 9View the provisional allotment letter once results are published, and report at the allotted institute within the reporting window to confirm your seat.

Is there actually a Punjab MCA CET entrance exam?
No. The Punjab Government's MCA admission notification for Session 2026-27 says admission shall be made on the basis of inter se merit of the qualifying examination, and that admissions to the MCA course for both the 85% Punjab-resident seats and the 15% outsider seats shall be made strictly on the basis of merit of marks obtained in the qualifying examination. IKGPTU's own centralized counselling page says the same. No written entrance test is conducted.
Who runs MCA admission in Punjab?
The Government of Punjab, Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training issues the notification. The Governor of Punjab has appointed I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, Kapurthala as the authority competent to conduct Centralized Counselling. Seats covered are in colleges affiliated to, and campuses of, IKGPTU and Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda.
What qualification do I need?
Any graduation degree — for example B.E., B.Tech., B.Sc., B.Com., B.A., B.Voc. or BCA — preferably with Mathematics at 10+2 or graduation level, from a UGC-recognized university, with at least 50% marks in the qualifying examination, or 45% for reserved-category candidates. Candidates without a Mathematics background must take a compulsory bridge course framed by the university or institution.
What is the 2026-27 counselling schedule for MCA?
Three rounds. Round 1: registration and fee payment 2 to 5 July 2026, choice filling 6 to 8 July, allotment 13 July, reporting 14 to 16 July. Round 2: registration 18 to 20 July, choice filling 21 to 22 July, allotment 23 July, reporting 24 to 28 July. Round 3: registration 29 to 30 July, choice filling 31 July to 2 August, allotment 3 August, reporting 4 to 5 August 2026. After the three rounds, admission is made at campus or college level with no separate notice.
What does it cost to participate?
A non-refundable counselling fee of Rs. 2,000 to take part in Centralized Online Counselling. Candidates who already paid the registration fee on admissions.ptu.ac.in do not have to deposit it again — that payment is carried over.
How are the 85% and 15% quotas handled?
85% of seats are reserved for candidates from within Punjab and 15% are open to candidates from outside the State, and counselling for both runs simultaneously. Punjab residence must be established under the Punjab Government letters cited in the notification, or by having passed graduation as a regular candidate from a recognized institution in Punjab. A candidate who cannot produce a residence certificate is considered for the 15% category only.
Can I surrender a seat and try again in the next round?
Yes. The counselling schedule states that a confirmed seat can be surrendered after the declaration of the round results, and the student may then participate in the next round if they did not get a seat in their desired college or campus.
