Worth preparing alongside

We cannot line RMS CET up against other exams yet

This does not mean RMS CET shares nothing with the exams you are preparing for — only that we have not loaded a chapter-by-chapter syllabus we can compare against, so we will not guess. We compare 0 exams whose official syllabus we have traced to the conducting body, and this one is not among them yet.

FAQs
Can girls apply to Rashtriya Military Schools?

Yes. The CET advertisement for Academic Session 2026-27 invites applications for the admission of boys and girls to Class VI and Class IX, and 10% of seats across all five schools are reserved for girls — for Class VI, 10% or a maximum of 30 seats, whichever is less. The schools' own static admission page still carries an older sentence saying admissions are exclusively for boys; that page is out of date and itself directs readers to the latest CET notification.

Which classes can I enter, and at what age?

Class VI and Class IX only. For the 2026-27 session, Class VI required age 10-12 years as on 31 March 2026 and Class IX required 13-15 years as on 31 March 2026. The standing rule is 10 to 12 years for Class VI and 13 to 15 years for Class IX as on 31st March of the year of admission. Wards of personnel killed in action get six months relaxation in the upper age limit.

Which certificate proves my date of birth?

Only a birth certificate issued by a Municipal Corporation or an authorised local Government body. The prospectus states explicitly that certificates issued by a Gram Panchayat or any other local body will not be acceptable.

What is the paper pattern?

OMR based multiple choice. For Class VI: English 50 marks with 35% required to qualify, Intelligence Test 50, Mathematics 50 and General Knowledge & Current Affairs 50, each needing 40%, plus an interview of 20 marks. For Class IX: Paper 1 of 100 marks (English 50, Hindi 20, Social Science 30) and Paper 2 of 100 marks (Mathematics 50, Science 50), each needing 50%, plus an interview of 50 marks.

Do my English marks count for Class VI?

No. You must qualify in English with 35%, but English marks are not counted towards the final merit list. NIELIT's own notice confirms cut-offs for Class 6 are calculated on the total of Intelligence Test, Mathematics and General Knowledge & Current Affairs, provided you meet the minimum in each.

What is the standard of the paper?

Generally Class V standard for Class VI admission and Class VIII standard for Class IX admission. The paper is bilingual, English and Hindi, for Class VI and only in English for Class IX.

Where do I apply, and what does it cost?

Online only, on the NIELIT portal at apply-delhi.nielit.gov.in, which the RMS advertisement names. The application fee inclusive of GST is ₹680 for GEN, OBC and OBC (NCL), ₹340 for SC and ST, and ₹300 for wards of defence personnel killed in action.

Can I choose my school?

No. Qualified candidates are allotted a school purely on the basis of merit and the vacancy available in the school, along with medical fitness and the reservation norms laid down by the Government of India.

Is there a day-scholar option?

No. All admissions are into the category of Boarders only; no day scholars are allowed.

Final eligibility and dates are always subject to the latest official notification. Content marked “Pending verification” is not presented as verified advice.
