How to applyPending verification
- 1Decide which state's police force you want to join, and which constable cadre. Constable recruitment is state-by-state and cadre-by-cadre; there is no common application.
- 2Find out which body runs Constable recruitment in that state — it is often not the body that runs Sub-Inspector recruitment there. The conductingBodies list in the overview gives the split for the states covered.
- 3Open that authority's own website and find the current Constable advertisement for your cadre. Note its advertisement number; every later notice, admit card and result is tied to that number.
- 4Read the eligibility clause and the physical-standards clause in full before applying, and measure yourself against that advertisement's figures, not against any figure read elsewhere.
- 5Apply through that authority's own portal within its window and pay its own fee.
- 6Prepare from the syllabus attached to that advertisement, and train for the physical efficiency events that advertisement lists, plus any skill test the cadre carries such as a driving efficiency test.
- 7Watch that authority's own site for the admit card, the written examination, the physical test and the result — and for corrections, since announced dates are revised by the authority itself.
FAQsPending verification
Is there one exam called the State Police Constable exam?
No. Police is a state subject, and each state recruits its own Constables under its own rules, through its own authority, with its own advertisement, written paper, physical standards and calendar. Many states run several constable recruitments at once for different cadres. There is nothing to register for under the name 'State Police Constable'.
Which page should I open instead?
Choose the exact state route in StudyBddy. Available official workspaces include Bihar, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Odisha, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Karnataka, Kerala, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. Delhi Police Constable recruitment is central and routes to SSC Delhi Police Constable.
What height and chest do I need for Constable?
That depends entirely on the state, your gender, your category and sometimes the cadre, and several states apply different standards to candidates from specified communities or hill and tribal areas. No measurement is printed on this page, deliberately. Open the current advertisement of the state and cadre you are applying to and read its physical-standards clause. That is the only figure that binds you.
Why does my state have several constable advertisements open at once?
Because constable cadres are recruited separately. The Central Selection Board of Constable in Bihar, for instance, was simultaneously running notices for Constable, Driver Constable with a driving efficiency test, Constable (Operator), Constable (General Duty Close Cadre) in the Special Branch, and Prohibition Constable, Jail Warder and Mobile Squad Constable — each under a different advertisement number. Check which advertisement number your application belongs to before following any notice about dates or results.
Is this the same as BSF, CRPF or CISF constable recruitment?
No. Those are central armed police forces recruiting nationally under their own directorates, not state police forces. See bsf-constable-hc, crpf-constable-hc, itbp-constable-hc, ssb-constable-hc, cisf-constable-tradesman and rpf-constable instead.
Why does this page carry no dates?
Because there is no shared calendar. Each state's authority issues its own numbered advertisements on its own schedule, and revises announced dates itself. Your dates are in the current advertisement for your state and cadre.
Final eligibility and dates are always subject to the latest official notification. Content marked “Pending verification” is not presented as verified advice.
