How to applyPending verification

- 2Pay the application and processing fee. Applications not accompanied by the requisite fees are rejected. Payment can be made online through the portal or in cash at authorised Sahaj Retail Limited outlets, whose list the Board publishes.
- 3Download the e-Admit Card for each stage from prb.wb.gov.in or wbpolice.gov.in by keying in your Application Serial Number and Date of Birth. From the 2025 stages onward the Board also requires an Aadhaar Number and Aadhaar-linked mobile number, sends an OTP to that number and to your registered e-mail, and thereafter treats the Aadhaar-linked mobile as your registered number for all recruitment SMS.
- 4Carry a printout of the e-Admit Card to the allotted venue along with the original Aadhaar Card as proof of identity.

Who conducts WB Police SI and Constable recruitment?
The West Bengal Police Recruitment Board, at Araksha Bhaban, Salt Lake City, Kolkata. It was set up by the Government of West Bengal in July 2010 following the National Police Mission's recommendations. The same Board also recruits for Kolkata Police, but those are separate advertisements for a separate force.
Are Constable and Sub-Inspector the same examination?
No. Constable needs Madhyamik and an age of 18 to 30; Sub-Inspector needs a bachelor's degree and an age of 20 to 30. Constable is a single 85-mark written paper followed by physical tests and a 15-mark interview. Sub-Inspector runs a 200-mark screening Preliminary, then physical tests, then a 200-mark descriptive Final Combined Competitive Examination and a 30-mark Personality Test.
What is the Constable written examination like?
85 objective questions with four choices, one mark each, in one hour, OMR based, with one-fourth of the marks deducted for each wrong answer. The paper is set in Bengali and Nepali. Marks are 25 for General Awareness and General Knowledge, 10 for English, 25 for Elementary Mathematics at Madhyamik standard and 25 for Reasoning and Logical Analysis.
What are the physical requirements?
For Constable, men of most categories need 167 cm height, 57 kg and a 78 cm chest expanding to 83 cm, and run 1600 metres in 6 minutes 30 seconds; women need 160 cm and 49 kg and run 800 metres in 4 minutes. Relaxed heights and weights apply to Gorkha, Garhwali, Rajbanshi and Scheduled Tribe candidates. Sub-Inspector standards are higher and differ between Unarmed and Armed Branch - 167 cm for Unarmed Branch men and 173 cm for Armed Branch men, with an 800 metre run in 3 minutes. Only one chance is given at the Physical Efficiency Test.
Where do the 2024 cycles stand now?
The Constable 2024 written examination was held on 30 November 2025, results came on 29 December 2025 with a revision on 31 December, PMT and PET began around 8 January 2026 and interview call letters went out on 24 January 2026; a further PMT/PET shortlist was published on 12 March 2026 under a High Court direction, and on 25 May 2026 the Board notified that six writ petitions connected with the recruitment are pending before the Calcutta High Court. The Sub-Inspector 2024 Preliminary was on 12 October 2025, results on 7 November 2025, PMT and PET from 17 November 2025, and the Final Combined Competitive Examination was held on 22 February 2026.
Do I need Bengali?
Yes for both posts - you must be able to speak, read and write Bengali. The exception is permanent residents of the hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts, for whom the West Bengal Official Language Act, 1961 applies; they must produce a domicile certificate at document verification. In the constable interview, command of Bengali or Nepali is tested specifically.
