Does Andhra Pradesh still run its own TET, or has it moved to CTET?
Andhra Pradesh runs its own examination. The APTET-JUNE-2026 notification is issued by the Director of School Education, Andhra Pradesh, and the test is conducted by the Department of School Education in all districts as a Computer Based Test. Only candidates seeking employment in private unaided schools following Central or State syllabus have the option of appearing at CTET instead. Teachers in private aided schools whose appointments were not approved must appear for the State TET.
Which paper do I take?
Paper-1A if you want to teach classes I to V in a regular school, Paper-1B for classes I to V in a special school, Paper-2A for classes VI to VIII in a regular school and Paper-2B for classes VI to VIII in a special school. Only candidates who hold both D.El.Ed and B.Ed qualifications and intend to teach classes I to VIII may sit all four papers, and they pay Rs.1000/- for each.
What is the paper like?
150 multiple choice questions of one mark each, four options with one correct, in 2 hours 30 minutes, delivered as a Computer Based Test. There is no negative marking. Paper-1A and Paper-1B are five parts of 30 questions each — Child Development and Pedagogy, Language-I, Language-II English, Mathematics and Environmental Studies. Paper-2A and Paper-2B have 30 questions each for Child Development and Pedagogy, Language-I and Language-II, plus a 60-question subject part.
What marks do I need to pass?
Out of 150 marks: 60% or 90 marks and above for OC/EWS, 50% or 75 marks and above for BC, and 40% or 60 marks and above for SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen.
Is there an age limit?
Neither the APTET-JUNE-2026 notification nor the Information Bulletin prescribes any minimum or maximum age. Eligibility depends entirely on your academic and professional qualifications for the paper you apply for.
How long is the certificate valid?
For life. The notification records that the APTET certificate is valid for life time in accordance with the NCTE guidelines of 09.06.2021 as amended by G.O.Ms.No.69, School Education (Exams) Department, dated 25.10.2021, and that certificates acquired before 09.06.2021 are also valid for life. There is no limit on the number of attempts, and a candidate who has already qualified may sit again to improve the score.
Does passing APTET get me a teaching job?
No. Qualifying in APTET confers no right to recruitment or employment — it is one of the eligibility criteria for appointment. Selection is through the State's separate Teacher Recruitment Test, in which the APTET score carries 20% weightage and the TRT written test 80%.
I am already a teacher. Do I have to sit APTET?
The notification records that under the Supreme Court judgment in Civil Appeal No. 1385 of 2025 dated 01.09.2025, in-service teachers recruited before the RTE Act came into force who have more than five years of service left to superannuation as on 01.09.2025 must qualify the TET. Existing Secondary Grade Teachers and School Assistants without a TET qualification may appear for Paper 1A/1B and 2A/2B in their concerned subject, and the normal qualification rules are exempted for in-service teachers in Government and Private Aided institutions.
What language is the paper in?
It is bilingual — English followed by the Language-I you choose. If you choose Sanskrit in Paper-2A, Child Development and Pedagogy is in Telugu followed by Sanskrit, Language-II is English, and the rest of the paper is Telugu followed by English. The paper is written in English and translated, and if there is any discrepancy the English version is treated as authentic and final for evaluation.
Can I challenge the answer key?
Yes, but only the initial key. For APTET-JUNE-2026 the initial key is released on 24-08-2026 and objections are received from 25-08-2026 to 31-08-2026. The subject expert committee constituted by SCERT is the final authority on those objections. No objection is entertained on the final key, which is released on 08-09-2026.
Where do I apply?
Online only, at the addresses named in the notification's schedule — the Department of School Education website and the department's TET application portal. Applications are not accepted in any manual form. Note that the dedicated APTET portal aptet.apcfss.in was down with an HTTP 503 error at the time of research.
