- 4Enter the issuing number and date of every certificate claimed — matriculation certificate, degree or provisional certificate, caste certificate, creamy-layer-free certificate, EWS income and asset certificate, permanent residence certificate, freedom fighter descendant certificate, disability certificate, age relaxation certificate and no-objection certificate. All these certificates must be uploaded at the time of applying for the Main Examination.

Which body conducts BSSC CGL?
The Bihar Staff Selection Commission, P.O. Veterinary College, Patna-14, constituted under Bihar Act No. 7/2002. The current cycle is its Fourth Graduate Level Combined Competitive Examination, Advertisement No. 05/25.
Is a Preliminary Examination always held?
No. Under the Bihar Staff Selection Commission Examination Conduct Rules 2010, a Preliminary Examination is held only when more than forty thousand applications are received. Where it is held, candidates equal to five times the category-wise vacancies go on to the Main Examination, for which a separate advertisement is published.
Can I really take books into the Preliminary Examination?
Yes. Under clause 12 of the Bihar Staff Selection Commission Examination Conduct Rules 2010 the Preliminary is taken with books. A candidate may carry three books, one each for General Studies, Mathematics and General Science. Only NCERT, BSEB, ICSE and other board textbooks count; guides, photocopies, handwritten paper, notes and electronic devices are barred. Write your name and roll number on the books, and do not exchange books during the examination.
How is the Preliminary Examination marked?
150 objective multiple choice questions, 4 marks for each correct answer and 1 mark deducted for each wrong answer, over 2 hours 15 minutes. The medium is Hindi and English, and if the two papers differ the English questions prevail.
What is the age limit and on what date is it reckoned?
Age is reckoned as on 01.08.2025. The minimum is 21 years for all categories. The maximum is 37 years for unreserved men, 40 years for Backward Class and Extremely Backward Class candidates of both sexes and for unreserved women, and 42 years for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates of both sexes. Candidates with disability of every category get 10 years over and above those limits.
Did the application deadline change?
Yes, twice. The advertisement opened applications on 18.08.2025. Memo 3834/aa dated 24.09.2025 set the fee deadline at 14.10.2025 and the application deadline at 16.10.2025, and memo 4248/aa dated 14.10.2025 extended them to 21.11.2025 and 24.11.2025 respectively.
How many vacancies are there?
1481 when the advertisement was first published, and 1883 after corrigendum memo 4792/aa dated 21.11.2025 added 342 Assistant Branch Officer vacancies. Note III of the advertisement says the figures are provisional and may go up or down.
Has the examination been held?
Not as of 3 August 2026. The Commission had published no Preliminary Examination date, admit card notice or result for Advertisement No. 05/25 on its notice board; the most recent notice on this advertisement is memo 4791/aa dated 21.11.2025.
