FAQsPending verification
What is the CGPSC State Service Examination and who conducts it?
The Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission conducts it as a combined competitive examination under the State Service Examination Rules, 2008 made by the Government of Chhattisgarh's General Administration Department. It recruits to services such as the Chhattisgarh State Administrative Service (Deputy Collector), the State Police Service (Deputy Superintendent of Police), the State Finance Service, Deputy Registrar, Chief Municipal Officer and Assistant Jail Superintendent.
What is the exam pattern?
Three stages. The Preliminary Examination has two objective papers of two hours each — General Studies (100 questions, 200 marks) and an Aptitude Test (100 questions, 200 marks) — with one third of a correct answer's marks deducted for each wrong answer. The Aptitude paper is only qualifying; shortlisting for the Mains is on the General Studies merit list alone, up to fifteen times the posts. The Main Examination is seven conventional papers of 200 marks and 3 hours each — Language, Essay and General Studies I to V — totalling 1400 marks, and the Interview carries 100 marks, so the final merit is on 1500 marks.
What are the minimum qualifying marks?
In every question paper of both the Preliminary and the Main Examination a candidate must score at least 33 per cent if unreserved and at least 23 per cent if from a reserved category.
