Is there one national D.Pharm entrance exam?
No. The Pharmacy Council of India's Education Regulations, 2020 for Diploma course in Pharmacy set a minimum qualification for admission but prescribe no entrance examination. Admission is arranged by each state.
What is the minimum qualification everywhere in India?
A pass in the 10+2 examination in the science academic stream with Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Mathematics, or any other qualification approved by the Pharmacy Council of India as equivalent. Your state may add stricter conditions on top of this.
Do I definitely have to sit an entrance test?
Not necessarily. It depends on your state. Uttar Pradesh examines Diploma in Pharmacy as Group E of its polytechnic entrance test. Maharashtra's Directorate of Technical Education runs a centralised Post HSC Diploma In Pharmacy admission instead. Check your own state before you build a study plan around a test that may not exist there.
How long is the course?
The Pharmacy Council of India prescribes two academic years, each spread over not less than one hundred and eighty working days, plus five hundred hours of practical training spread over not less than three months.
Is the D.Pharm Exit Examination the entrance exam?
No. The Diploma in Pharmacy Exit Examination is held under the Council's Diploma in Pharmacy Exit Examination Regulations, 2022 and is taken at the end of the course, not to get in.
Who actually conducts my D.Pharm examinations once I am admitted?
An Examining Authority, which the Council's regulations define as either a statutory Indian University or a body constituted by the Central or State Government, and which must meet the conditions in the regulations.
