Is GITAM GAT the same thing as GMAT?
No. GAT is the GITAM Admissions Test, conducted by GITAM itself. GMAT is a separate international management admission test run by an external body. GITAM's regulations mention GMAT only in the selection criteria for foreign and NRI applicants to postgraduate programmes, alongside GRE and IND SAT (PG). If you are an Indian-resident applicant, GAT is the test you sit.
How do I join GITAM?
GITAM states: all students must appear for the GAT exam conducted every year for entrance. It is a computer-based exam that can be taken from multiple centres across India, and merit scholarships are awarded on the rank obtained.
Can I get in without GAT?
Sometimes. GITAM's regulations say students can also secure a seat by qualifying in specified state or national level examinations. For Engineering, a rank in GAT or any recognised national-level examination in the year of admission is accepted. For the Law programmes GITAM accepts LSAT, CLAT or GAT. GITAM also awards scholarships on ranks in JEE Main, AP EAMCET and TS EAMCET among others.
What marks do I need in class 12 for B.Tech.?
A minimum of 60% or 6.0 CGPA aggregate in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry - 55% in the case of CBSE or ICSE - together with First Class or equivalent in the qualifying examination. You must have passed the qualifying exam in the year you are seeking admission or the previous year.
Does GAT cover Ph.D. admission?
No. GITAM runs doctoral admission through its separate research admissions process with its own brochure and portal.
How many questions does GAT have, and when is it held?
