- 2Apply online through the HPCL application portal within the advertised window - for the current cycle, 1 July 2026 from 1600 hours to 20 July 2026 up to 1500 hours.
- 3Pay the application fee online. An incomplete application, even with fees paid, is cancelled and the fee is forfeited.
- 4Keep the payment acknowledgment. Applications are screened without documentary evidence, so candidates must satisfy themselves that they meet the eligibility for the position applied to.
- 5Submit documentary evidence of eligibility when advised by HPCL during the shortlisting or selection process, within the stipulated time.

Does HPCL recruit engineers through GATE?
No. Neither the current advertisement (ADVT. NO. HPCL/OPEN/HR/1/2026-27) nor the February 2026 advertisement that carried fresher Engineer positions mentions GATE anywhere. HPCL conducts its own Computer Based Test and publishes its own position-wise syllabus.
What is the HPCL CBT paper like?
170 multiple choice questions in 150 minutes: 85 on General Aptitude and 85 on Technical/Professional Knowledge, each worth 1 mark, with 0.25 marks deducted for every wrong answer. PwBD candidates get 50 minutes of additional time.
Does every HPCL position have a written test?
No. HPCL's Selection Methodology document lists which positions go through the CBT. In the current advertisement only Junior Executive - Chemical, Junior Executive - Fire & Safety and Assistant Manager / Manager - Projects sit a CBT; all other positions go through resume-based shortlisting, Personal Interview(s) and a Pre-Employment Medical Exam.
What are the stages after the CBT?
Group Task, Personal Interview(s) and a Pre-Employment Medical Examination, with a Physical Fitness Efficiency Test for specified positions. All are elimination rounds and a candidate must clear the minimum qualifying marks at each stage.
What marks do I need in my degree?
For most positions, a minimum of 65% aggregate for UR/OBCNC/EWS candidates and 55% aggregate for SC/ST/PwBD candidates in the qualifying degree or diploma.
What is the application fee?
Rs 1,180 for UR, OBCNC and EWS candidates - Rs 1,000 fee plus 18% GST of Rs 180 - plus payment gateway charges if applicable. SC, ST and PwBD candidates are exempt.
