- 2Read the detailed advertisement in full — age, qualification and, for SA/Exe, the Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau, its State domicile requirement and its list of local languages and dialects.
- 3Register online through MHA's website or the NCS portal only. The advertisements state that applications will not be accepted through any other mode, and that registrations done before the opening date or after the closing date will not be accepted.
- 4Choose five (5) preferred cities as options for the Tier-I examination.
- 5Pay the fee through SBI EPAY LITE by debit card (RuPay/Visa/MasterCard/Maestro), credit card, internet banking, UPI or SBI challan. An e-challan generated after submission is valid for four days from the date of generation.
- 6For ACIO-II/Exe the fee is Examination Fee Rs. 100/- plus Recruitment Processing Charges Rs. 450/-. All candidates pay the recruitment processing charges; only male candidates of UR, EWS and OBC categories additionally pay the examination fee.
- 7For SA/Exe and MTS/Gen the fee is Examination Fee Rs. 50/- plus Recruitment Processing Charges Rs. 450/-, on the same basis — all candidates pay the processing charges, and male candidates of General, EWS and OBC categories additionally pay the examination fee.

What is the exam pattern for ACIO-II/Exe?
Three tiers. Tier-I is a one-hour online paper of 100 objective MCQs for 100 marks, in five parts of 20 one-mark questions each on Current Affairs, General Studies, Numerical aptitude, Reasoning/logical aptitude and English, with ¼ mark deducted for each wrong answer. Tier-II is a one-hour descriptive paper of 50 marks — Essay 30 and English comprehension & précis writing 20 — and you must score at least 17 out of 50. Tier-III is an interview of 100 marks.
What is the exam pattern for Security Assistant/Executive?
Tier-I is a one-hour online objective paper of 100 marks in five parts of 20 one-mark questions on General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, Numerical/Analytical/Logical Ability & Reasoning, English Language and General Studies, with ¼ negative marking. Tier-II is an offline descriptive paper of one hour: translation of a 500-word passage from the local language or dialect into English and back, for 40 marks, plus 10 marks for spoken ability judged at the interview. Tier-II is qualifying — you need 20 out of 50. Tier-III is an interview/personality test of 50 marks.
What are the minimum marks needed to clear Tier-I?
Both advertisements set cut-off marks out of 100 in Tier-I of UR-35, OBC-34, SC/ST-33 and EWS-35, with ex-servicemen treated in their own category. The advertisements caution that the actual cut-off may go higher depending on candidates' marks and the number of vacancies.
Who can apply for each post?
ACIO-II/Exe needs graduation or equivalent from a recognized university and an age of 18-27 years. Security Assistant/Executive needs matriculation (10th class pass) or equivalent, a domicile certificate of the State you apply against, knowledge of one of the local languages or dialects listed for that Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau, and an age not exceeding 27 years. MTS/General has the same qualification with an age of 18-25 years.
