- 3Select post code 04, Law Officer (Scale I), in the online application form.
- 4Upload your photograph, signature, left thumb impression, a hand written declaration, your SSC/SSLC/10th standard or equivalent certificate, and any certificate required under clause I (ix), and capture a live photograph through webcam or mobile phone.
- 5Pay the fee online - Rs. 175 for SC/ST/PwBD candidates and Rs. 850 for all others, inclusive of GST.
- 6Applications are accepted online only.

Is IBPS SO Law Officer a separate exam?
No. Law Officer (Scale I) is post code 04 inside the IBPS Common Recruitment Process for Specialist Officers. One notification, one application form and one schedule cover all six specialist posts.
How is the Law Officer paper different from the other specialist posts?
Law Officer and Rajbhasha Adhikari sit General Awareness with Special Reference to Banking Industry where the other four posts sit Quantitative Aptitude, in both the Preliminary and the Main examination. The Professional Knowledge test is post-specific. The Law Officer Main examination ends with a Descriptive Paper in English of 2 questions for 25 marks in 30 minutes.
What is the Law Officer exam pattern?
Preliminary: 100 questions for 125 marks in 80 minutes. Main: 150 objective questions for 200 marks in 125 minutes plus a 25-mark descriptive paper in 30 minutes, so 225 marks in 155 minutes. Then a 100-mark interview, with Main and interview weighted 80:20.
Who is eligible for Law Officer?
A Bachelor Degree in Law (LL.B) with enrolment as an advocate with the Bar Council, with the result declared on or before 21.07.2026, and age 20 to 30 years as on 01.07.2026.
How many Law Officer vacancies are there in CRP SPL-XVI?
125 indicative vacancies as on 20.07.2026 - 16 SC, 7 ST, 32 OBC (NCL), 11 EWS and 59 UR - across the participating banks. IBPS calls these indicative and anticipated; allotment follows the actual vacancies reported by the banks.
