FAQsPending verification
Does IFSCA run its own exam for Grade A?
Yes. The International Financial Services Centres Authority issues its own vacancy notification and conducts its own three-stage selection, publishing the notification, information handout and phase results on ifsca.gov.in. It is not a UPSC exam.
Which streams are recruited and how many posts were advertised in 2025?
Three streams — General, Legal and Information Technology. The 2025 notification advertised 20 posts in total: 12 General, 4 Legal and 4 IT, with a category split of 3 SC, 2 ST, 5 OBC, 2 EWS and 8 UR/GEN, and one PwBD post within the General stream.
What is the Phase I pattern?
Two papers of 100 marks each, 60 minutes each. Paper 1 is common to all streams: General awareness (financial sector), English language, Quantitative Aptitude and Test of Reasoning, 25 questions of 1 mark each per section. Paper 2 is 50 questions of 2 marks each on your stream subject. There is negative marking of 1/4th of the marks assigned to a question in both papers. The paper cut-offs are 30% for Paper 1 and 40% for Paper 2, with a 40% aggregate cut-off.
What is the Phase II pattern?
Paper 1 is a descriptive English test common to all streams — Precis Writing 35 marks, Essay writing 30 marks, Comprehension 35 marks — for 100 marks in 60 minutes, cut-off 30%, carrying 1/3rd weightage within the phase. Paper 2 is 50 multiple choice questions of 2 marks each on the stream subject for 100 marks in 60 minutes, cut-off 40%, carrying 2/3rd weightage. Paper 1 is evaluated only for candidates who obtain the minimum qualifying marks in Paper 2.
How is the final merit decided, and does Phase I count?
Phase I marks are used only to shortlist for Phase II and do not count towards final selection. Final selection is based on Phase II at 85% weightage and the Phase III interview at 15%. Inter se seniority among selected candidates, however, is fixed on the total marks obtained in the common papers of Phase I and Phase II.
Is there anything extra for the IT stream?
Yes. IT stream candidates who qualify in Phase II must clear a qualifying Coding Test before they are eligible for the interview. Candidates who do not qualify the Coding Test are excluded from further consideration regardless of their performance in any other stage. The syllabus, date and venue of the Coding Test are notified separately by IFSCA.
What were the age limit and fee in the 2025 cycle?
A candidate must not have exceeded 30 years as on 25 September 2025. Relaxations were five years for SC/ST, three years for OBC, ten years for PwBD (thirteen for PwBD-OBC and fifteen for PwBD-SC/ST) and five years for ex-servicemen. The fee was Rs. 1,000 with applicable taxes for UR/GEN, EWS and OBC, and Rs. 100 as intimation charges with applicable taxes for SC/ST/PwBD. Candidates also needed a minimum of 60% marks in the qualifying degree, relaxed by 5% for SC/ST.
Where does IFSCA post its recruitment notices?
On the Career page at ifsca.gov.in. The 2025 cycle's Phase-II result was published there on 9 January 2026, shortlisting candidates for interview; marks and category-wise cut-offs are to be displayed only after the entire selection process is complete.
Final eligibility and dates are always subject to the latest official notification. Content marked “Pending verification” is not presented as verified advice.
