- 2Register and apply separately for the MBA (IB) and MBA (BA) programmes; one registration does not cover both.
- 3Create a new login, then log back in to complete the application form.
- 4Keep ready the documents the guidelines list, including a scanned recent passport-size colour photograph and a signature scanned from white paper written with a black ink pen, both in jpg/jpeg format.
- 5Upload the PDF documents asked for — qualification documents, work experience certificates if applicable, disability documents if applicable, and the category certificate for SC/ST/EWS/OBC(NCL)/PWD/Kashmiri Migrant candidates.
- 6Pay the application fee online. For MBA (IB) 2026-28 it was Rs.3000 for General/OBC-NCL/EWS and Rs.1500 for SC/ST/PwD/Transgender candidates, and it is not refunded.
- 7Register for CAT separately on the IIM CAT portal — the IIFT application uses your CAT score, and IIFT asks you to quote your CAT Registration Number along with your IIFT Application Number in any correspondence.

Is there still a separate IIFT entrance exam for the MBA (IB)?
No. The IIFT MBA (IB) & MBA (BA) 2026-2028 brochure says IIFT will use the CAT score for shortlisting and selecting candidates, and adds that the IIMs have no role in the selection process or in running the programme. IIFT's own stage is the Group Discussion and Personal Interview held afterwards.
What are the two rounds?
Round one is shortlisting on the CAT score together with other parameters IIFT defines. Round two is a Group Discussion and Personal Interview in physical mode, held at Delhi, Kolkata, Kakinada, GIFT City, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Indore, Lucknow and Mumbai.
Who is eligible?
A recognized Bachelor's degree of at least three years in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks, or 45% for SC, ST and PWD candidates. There is no age limit. Candidates still appearing for the qualifying examination could apply for the 2026-28 cycle provided they submitted proof of the qualification by 31 October 2026.
When did the 2026-28 cycle run?
Online applications opened on 17 October 2025 and closed at 23:59 on 12 December 2025, with the same deadline for payment. The CAT exam date printed in IIFT's calendar was 30 November 2025. Shortlists were due in the last week of January 2026, GD/PI from March 2026 onwards, the final result in the last week of April 2026, and the programme began in June 2026.
What about the 2027-29 intake?
IIFT had published nothing for it as of 3 August 2026. Going by the previous cycle, applications opened in mid-October. Watch iift.ac.in rather than relying on any predicted date.
How many seats are there?
For MBA (IB) the 2026-28 brochure lists 240 seats each at the Delhi and Kolkata campuses and 120 seats each at the GIFT City and Kakinada campuses, with reservation as per Government of India norms.
