We cannot line Indian Army TES up against other exams yet
This does not mean Indian Army TES shares nothing with the exams you are preparing for — only that we have not loaded a chapter-by-chapter syllabus we can compare against, so we will not guess. We compare 0 exams whose official syllabus we have traced to the conducting body, and this one is not among them yet.

Planning reference — verify the current detailed notice
ACCESS LIMITATION: the Army's own TES course notification could not be retrieved. joinindianarmy.nic.in and www.joinindianarmy.nic.in were both refused by the egress proxy (HTTP 403 to CONNECT) and robots.txt could not be fetched; indianarmy.nic.in, mod.gov.in and nccindia.nic.in were unreachable; davp.nic.in presents an expired TLS certificate; upsc.gov.in notification PDFs timed out. No coaching site or aggregator was substituted. Everything above comes from Employment News, an official Government of India publication — but the December 2024 article is general careers guidance, not the course notification, and the corroborating Army advertisement is from 2011 for the January 2012 course. TES parameters (minimum PCM percentage, the role and cut-off of JEE Main, vacancies, training length) have demonstrably changed between those two official documents. Do not treat any figure above as current: open the current TES course notification on joinindianarmy.nic.in and match the exact row before applying. Vacancies for a TES course are typically small and are declared per course in the notification; no vacancy figure for the current course was confirmed here.

Confirm the current wording in the live course notification.
Physical standards
Official source pending. Candidates must clear a medical board; the official 2012-course Army advertisement recorded the medical examination as taking three to five days. The numeric physical and medical standards are published in the course notification, which could not be retrieved in this research session.

| Post | Classification | Pay | Employers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lieutenant (on commissioning), Indian Army — technical Arms and Services | Commissioned Officer. The official 2012-course advertisement was issued for 'Permanent Commission/Short Service Commission 10+2 Technical Entry Scheme'. The current commission type for TES was not confirmed against a live notification in this research session. | Pay Level 10. The Press Information Bureau release on the Cabinet's approval of the 7th Central Pay Commission states the starting salary of a Class I officer as ₹56,100 per month. The same release states that Military Service Pay for Defence Forces personnel was revised to '3600, 5200, 10800 & 15500 respectively for various categories of Defence Forces personnel'; that release does NOT map the ₹15,500 figure explicitly to Service Officers, so treat the officer-MSP mapping as unconfirmed. Stipend during training: the official 2012-course advertisement recorded ₹21,000 per month under the then-applicable pay structure — superseded and quoted only as the historical official figure. | Indian Army, Ministry of Defence, Government of India |

FAQsPending verification
Is there a written exam for TES?
No separate written examination is conducted by the Indian Army for TES. Selection runs from shortlisting on academic criteria straight to the Services Selection Board and then the medical board. The December 2024 Employment News article records the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) as a prerequisite for TES.
Who can apply for TES?
Per the December 2024 Employment News article, unmarried male candidates aged 16.5 to 19.5 years who have passed 10+2 with 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. An older official Army advertisement for the January 2012 course required 70% in PCM — the requirement has changed between official documents, so the current course notification is the only safe reference.
What training does a TES cadet undergo?
Per the December 2024 Employment News article: three years at a military technical institute — the College of Military Engineering, Pune; the Military College of Telecommunication Engineering, Mhow; or the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering, Secunderabad — followed by one year at the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. The older 2012-course advertisement described a five-year model (one year basic military training, three years pre-commission technical training, one year post-commission). The December 2024 description is the later of the two official accounts.
How many vacancies does TES have?
Not confirmed for the current course. Vacancies are declared per course in the notification, which could not be retrieved in this research session. The only officially confirmed figure found was 85 for Course 26 commencing January 2012, described there as provisional.
When is the next TES application window?
Next examination date has not yet been published in StudyBddy's verified official record. No TES window could be verified because joinindianarmy.nic.in was unreachable during this research session.
Final eligibility and dates are always subject to the latest official notification. Content marked “Pending verification” is not presented as verified advice.
