How to applyPending verification
- 1Apply online only through the link on LIC's careers page — no other means or mode of application is accepted.
- 2Open the employment notice of the Zonal Office covering the Division you want, and apply to only one Division.
- 3Choose your candidate category — LIC Agents, LIC Employee or Others (Open Market) — and confirm you meet that category's age, qualification and experience rules as on the notice's reckoning date. You may apply under more than one category if eligible for each.
- 4Register through 'Click here for New Registration', note the provisional registration number and password, and use 'Save and Next' to complete the form in stages.
- 5Pay online: ₹100 inclusive of GST for SC/ST candidates, ₹750 inclusive of GST for all others, plus transaction charges. Fees are non-refundable. Keep the e-receipt — a missing e-receipt means the payment failed.
- 6Keep a valid personal email ID and mobile number active until the process ends; LIC sends call-letter intimations to the registered email.
- 7SC/ST/OBC candidates wanting pre-exam training must opt for it while registering and then contact the Senior Divisional Manager of the Division applied to within one week of the last date of application.
- 8Carry no mobile phone, calculator, smart watch, headphones or other electronic device into the examination or interview premises.

Is LIC ADO recruited through another examination?
No. LIC conducts it directly. The employment notice is issued by LIC's own Zonal Offices, applications go through LIC's careers page, the pay scale is LIC's Development Officer scale, and the date-change notice is signed by all eight LIC Zonal Managers. LIC uses an IBPS-hosted portal for the online application and score display, but IBPS is not the recruiting authority.
Do all candidates sit two exams?
No. Only Others (Open Market) candidates sit the Preliminary examination followed by the Main examination. LIC Agents Category and LIC Employee Category candidates sit a single-phase Main examination only.
Is there negative marking?
No. The notice states there is no negative marking for wrong answers, but advises candidates not to answer through random guessing.
What was the age limit?
For the 2022-23 cycle, at least 21 and not more than 30 years of age as on 1 January 2023 — born between 2 January 1993 and 1 January 2002 inclusive. Upper limits rise to 33 for OBC non-creamy-layer and 35 for SC/ST, and considerably higher for serving LIC employees and LIC agents; the full table is in the eligibility section.
How many marks does the interview carry?
A maximum of 40 marks. Shortlisting for the interview uses Main examination marks only, and the final merit list uses Main examination marks plus interview marks.
Is there a service bond?
Yes. Before joining, the candidate must undertake to serve LIC for at least four years including the apprenticeship period, and submit a ₹3,00,000 indemnity bond executed by an unrelated surety. Liquidated damages of ₹3,00,000 apply on default.
Does clearing the ADO exam make me a Development Officer?
Not automatically. The notice states expressly that appointment as an Apprentice Development Officer does not by itself confer any right to be appointed as a Probationary Development Officer; that depends on completing the apprenticeship and being found suitable, followed by a one-year probation extendable to two years.
Is an ADO recruitment open right now?
No. As of 3 August 2026 the LIC careers page lists only the AAO (Generalists/Specialists/Assistant Engineers) 2025 recruitment and a contract Chief Financial Officer engagement.
