NEET has no marks cut-off. NTA publishes a qualifying percentile per category, and the marks range is simply what that percentile worked out to in that year's paper. A range therefore moves with the paper's difficulty and with who sat it — it does not forecast next year.
2026 was a re-examination, so read it apart from the rest. NTA cancelled the 3 May 2026 paper, refunded its fee and re-held the examination on 21 June 2026 for the whole cohort — 22.79 lakh candidates across 551 cities in India and 14 abroad. Two things follow, and neither means what it looks like at a glance: 2,79,848 candidates were absent, four times the 66,751 of 2025, because many who had registered for May did not return in June; and the UR/EWS band bottoms at 213 against 2025's 144. That is a different paper sat by a different, smaller field. It is not evidence that NEET got easier, and a 2026-versus-2025 comparison of these numbers will mislead you.
Every row below is the revised official figure. Where NTA revised a year after first publishing it — 2024 — the revised table is what appears here; the original press-release numbers are superseded and are not shown.
Officially published cut-offs begin at 2023. NTA's own multi-year compendium, Key Data Points of NEET (UG) Over Years, carries eight years of registration and attendance but only three years of cut-offs, and the earlier press releases are no longer served. So 2023-2026 is the whole of what can be sourced, not a selection we made.

What is the minimum age, and is there an upper age limit?
Chapter 6 of the Information Bulletin for NEET (UG)-2026 sets the lower limit under the Graduate Medical Education Regulation-2023 (Amendment) dated 16.06.2023: the candidate must have "completed the age of 17 years as on or before 31st December of the year that the candidate shall be appearing for NEET-UG examination". For 2026 the Bulletin tabulates this as born on or before 31.12.2009, and the same date is shown for General (UR)/General-EWS and for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD/PwD alike — the lower age limit is not relaxed by category. On the upper end, citing NMC/UGMEB letter U-11022/2/2022-UGMEB dated 09 March 2022, the Bulletin states plainly: "there is no upper age limit."
What academic qualification do I need?
Chapter 6 lists seven qualifying-examination codes (01–07). The common thread is the study of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology with English, including practical tests in those subjects, at Class 12 or an equivalent level — the recognised routes run from Higher/Senior Secondary and the Indian School Certificate through Intermediate/Pre-degree in Science, Pre-professional/Pre-medical, the first year of a three-year degree course and a qualifying B.Sc., to any other examination equivalent in scope and standard. A candidate whose Class 12 result is awaited may apply and appear, but is not eligible for admission if he or she has not passed the qualifying examination by the first round of counselling. Under the Public Notice dated 22.11.2023, candidates who took the requisite subjects as additional subjects after passing Class 12 from a duly recognised board may appear, on production of documentary evidence.
What was the application fee for NEET (UG) 2026?
For centres in India: ₹1700 General, ₹1600 General-EWS and OBC-NCL, ₹1000 SC/ST/PwBD/PwD/Third Gender. For centres outside India, ₹9500. Processing charges and GST are payable in addition, per the payment-gateway table in the Bulletin.
Is the fee refundable?
The Bulletin's standing rule is no: "The examination fee once deposited will not be refunded. The fee will not be carried forward to a future examination." Duplicate payments are the exception — these are reconciled and refunded through the same payment mode after the result is declared.
That rule did not describe what actually happened in the 2026 cycle. After the examination held on 03 May 2026, NTA refunded the examination fee. Its Public Notice of 14 July 2026 (https://cdnbbsr.s3waas.gov.in/s37bc1ec1d9c3426357e69acd5bf320061/uploads/2026/07/202607141430274592.pdf), headed "Regarding Refund of Examination Fee of NEET (UG) 2026 (Examination held on 03 May 2026)", records that as on 14 July 2026, 11,46,401 candidates had submitted bank account details and NTA had started paying refunds into those accounts, and gave those who had not yet done so until 31 July 2026 (11:50 P.M.) to update their details. Treat the Bulletin's clause as the default rule and public notices as what governs a given cycle.
When could I correct my application?
The Bulletin's schedule gave a Correction in Particulars window of 10–12 March 2026, after applications closed on 08 March 2026 (form up to 09:00 P.M., fee up to 11:50 P.M.). Some entries can never be corrected: the Bulletin warns that the photograph, signature, finger and thumb impressions and certificates must be uploaded correctly because "the facility for correction will not be given in future", and that the medium of the question paper "once chosen cannot be changed".
For the 21 June 2026 re-examination, could I change anything?
Only your present address and your choice of examination cities. NTA's Public Notice of 15 May 2026 (https://cdnbbsr.s3waas.gov.in/s37bc1ec1d9c3426357e69acd5bf320061/uploads/2026/05/20260515960654684.pdf) opened a window on neet.nta.nic.in from 15 May to 21 May 2026 (up to 23:50 hrs) to update the present address and the 1st and 2nd choice of examination city. Against "Correction in Particulars" it states: "No correction of particulars will be allowed except present address and choice of city as mentioned above." Candidates who did not use the facility kept their existing city choice, and no requests were entertained afterwards. The same notice records that no fee was charged from the candidate for the re-examination.
In which languages can I take the paper?
Thirteen: English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. English-medium candidates get an English-only booklet, Hindi-medium candidates a bilingual English–Hindi booklet, and regional-language candidates English plus the chosen language. The Bulletin's table limits where each option may be taken: English at centres in India and outside India; English+Hindi and English+Hindi+Urdu at centres in India; and the remaining regional mediums only at centres in the associated States and UTs — for example Assamese in Assam, Kannada in Karnataka, Bengali in West Bengal, Tripura and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Where a translated question is ambiguous, the English version is final. Qualifying candidates are eligible for All India Quota and State quotas irrespective of the medium chosen.
How late can I reach the centre?
01:30 PM is the hard limit. The Bulletin's centre-day table gives reporting/entry time as 11:00 AM and "Last Entry to the Examination Centre" as 01:30 PM, and Chapter 13 states: "A candidate who comes after 01:30 PM shall not be permitted to enter the Examination Centre under any circumstances." The centre opens three hours before the test. Two earlier deadlines apply to particular candidates: those in cultural or customary dress must report by 12:30 PM, an hour before last entry, and those wearing articles or objects of faith (customary/cultural/religious) should report at least two hours before the last reporting time so frisking can be completed properly.
What may I not carry in?
Frisking with highly sensitive metal detectors is compulsory. Chapter 11 bars textual material printed or written, bits of paper, geometry or pencil boxes, plastic pouches, calculators, pens, scales, writing pads, pen drives, erasers, log tables and electronic pens or scanners; any communication device (mobile phones, Bluetooth, earphones, microphones, pagers, health bands); wallets, goggles, handbags, belts and caps; any watch, bracelet or camera; ornaments or metallic items; any food, opened or packed, and water bottles; and anything else usable for unfair means. No safekeeping is arranged at centres, and possession of a barred item inside the centre premises attracts the penalties for unfair practices under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
What must I bring?
A printed admit card downloaded from the NTA website with a passport-size photograph pasted on it; one further passport-size photograph for the attendance sheet; one postcard-size (4"×6") colour photograph with a white background pasted on the proforma downloaded with the admit card; one original, valid photo ID (PAN card, driving licence, voter ID, passport, Aadhaar, DigiLocker or APAAR ID); and, if claiming PwBD relaxation, the certificate of physical limitation to write and/or the PwBD certificate. Candidates who do not bring these will not be allowed to sit.
Do PwD/PwBD candidates get extra time or a scribe?
Yes. Chapter 4 provides compensatory time of one hour for the three-hour examination to a PwD/PwBD candidate having a physical limitation to write, "whether such candidate uses the facility of Scribe or not". Where a scribe is used, the Bulletin asks for the scribe's Aadhaar details in the application form, and carries the prescribed certificates and letters of undertaking as Annexures II–V, with separate forms for candidates having 40% or more disability and for those covered by Section 2(s) of the RPwD Act 2016 with less than 40% disability and difficulty in writing. Uploaded UDID details are verified against the DePwD portal; candidates without a UDID card upload a disability certificate instead.
How is the qualifying mark decided?
By percentile, not by a fixed score. Chapter 8 requires the 50th percentile for General and General-EWS, the 40th for SC, ST and OBC, and for candidates with benchmark disabilities under the RPwD Act 2016, the 45th percentile for Unreserved and GEN-EWS and the 40th for SC/ST/OBC-NCL. "The percentile shall be determined on the basis of the highest marks secured in the All India common merit list", so the corresponding mark changes from year to year. Where a sufficient number of candidates in a category fail to secure the minimum marks, the Bulletin records that the Central Government, in consultation with NMC, DCI, NCISM and NCH, may at its discretion lower the minimum marks, and that any such lowering applies to that academic year only.
What happens if two candidates score the same?
Chapter 8 gives a fixed sequence: higher marks or percentile in Biology (Botany & Zoology); then in Chemistry; then in Physics; then the candidate with the lower proportion of attempted incorrect answers to correct answers across all subjects; then the same ratio within Biology; then within Chemistry; then within Physics; and if the tie still persists after all of these, resolution "through a random process with the guidance of an independent expert committee". The sequence is set out in full at (a)–(h) and the criteria it names are subject scores and the incorrect-to-correct ratio; the Bulletin attributes it to the UGMEB/NMC Public Notice dated 13.06.2023 and NMC UG Section e-mail dated 28.01.2026.
Can I challenge the answer key, and what does it cost?
Yes, within the window announced by public notice after the examination. Chapter 15 requires NTA to display the scanned images of every candidate's OMR answer sheet and machine-recorded responses on https://neet.nta.nic.in/ after the exam. A challenge to the provisional answer key then costs a non-refundable processing fee of ₹200 per answer challenged, and a representation against the grading of your OMR costs a non-refundable ₹200 per question challenged. Challenges are examined by a panel of subject experts. If a challenge is upheld, the key is revised and applied to every candidate's responses, and the result is prepared on the revised final key — but no individual candidate is told whether his or her own challenge was accepted. In the 2026 cycle, per NTA's press release of 16 July 2026 (linked below), the provisional key was published on 25 June 2026 with the challenge window open 25–28 June, and scanned OMR sheets and recorded responses were displayed 13–15 July 2026.
Can I ask for re-checking or re-evaluation?
No. Chapter 15 states there is no provision for re-checking or re-evaluation, because the OMRs are machine-gradable and evaluated through software applied identically to all, and because candidates have already had the chance to make representations on OMR grading and to challenge the answer key. "No correspondence in this regard will be entertained."
When was the NEET (UG) 2026 result declared?
On 16 July 2026. NTA's press release of that date (https://cdnbbsr.s3waas.gov.in/s37bc1ec1d9c3426357e69acd5bf320061/uploads/2026/07/20260716477215762.pdf) records that the examination was conducted on 21 June 2026, that close to 20 lakh candidates appeared at 5,440 centres in 551 cities in India and 14 abroad, and that 11.21 lakh qualified. NTA's Public Notice of 20 July 2026 (https://nta.ac.in/Download/Notice/Notice_20260720093135.pdf) states both dates again.
Someone is circulating an OMR sheet or score card that contradicts my result. What is NTA's position?
NTA's Public Notice of 20 July 2026 addresses exactly this. It records that after the result, representations were received enclosing images of OMR sheets or score cards said to be the "correct" document, and that in every case examined the genuine OMR sheet held on record — with the correct roll number, booklet number, answer-sheet barcode and booklet code, the candidate's own name, parentage, signature and thumb impression, and the invigilators' signatures — matched the declared score, while the enclosed image was a fabricated document. The notice warns that creating, possessing, using, submitting or circulating a fabricated, digitally altered, AI-generated or otherwise forged examination document is a cognisable offence under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, and attracts liability under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000, with cancellation of candidature and debarment as further consequences. A genuine grievance remains open: the notice invites a representation to the NTA helpdesk quoting the application number, roll number and the specific discrepancy alleged, and asks candidates not to annex any image that is not a document issued by the Agency or downloaded from its portal.
Who conducts counselling, and whom do I contact?
Not NTA. MCC/DGHS conducts counselling for the 15% All India Quota in MBBS/BDS and for Central Institutions, Central Universities, AIIMS, JIPMER and Deemed Universities; State quota seats are handled by the designated State authorities; AACCC is the counselling authority for the All India Quota in BAMS, BUMS and BSMS under NCISM and for BHMS under NCH. NTA's mandate ends at conducting the examination, declaring the result on NMC's eligibility criteria, and issuing the All India Rank. For examination matters the 2026 notices give the helpline as +91-11-40759000 (also 011-69227700) and the e-mail as neetug2026@nta.ac.in, with official websites https://neet.nta.nic.in/ and https://nta.ac.in/. NTA's press release cautions candidates against calls, messages or websites offering admission, seat blocking or score improvement, and states that NTA does not contact candidates seeking money or credentials.
