Does NTPC hold its own exam for Executive Trainee?
Not for engineering disciplines. NTPC's advertisement is titled 'Recruitment of Engineering Executive Trainees-2025 through GATE-2025' and shortlists candidates on GATE performance. The only NTPC-run test on the current notice board is for Executive Trainee - Finance (CA/CMA) under Advt. 01/26.
Which GATE year's score does NTPC accept?
For EET-2025, only GATE 2025 marks are valid. NTPC states plainly: 'Please note that only GATE marks of 2025 will be valid for EET-2025 recruitment.'
Which GATE paper should I write?
The one NTPC maps to your discipline: EE for Electrical, ME for Mechanical, EC for Electronics, IN for Instrumentation and CS for Computer Science/Information Technology.
Is qualifying GATE enough?
No. You must also apply to NTPC against its advertisement within the application window. Shortlisting is done on GATE performance from amongst the candidates who apply against that advertisement, and NTPC publishes a GATE All India Rank cut-off with each shortlist.
What is the age limit?
27 years as on the last date of online application for EET under Advt. 14/24, with relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC and 10 years for PwBD. For Executive Trainee - Finance (CA/CMA) under Advt. 01/26 it is a maximum of 29 years.
Is there an interview?
For EET, NTPC's advertisement describes shortlisting for document verification followed by an Offer of Appointment; it does not describe an interview stage. For Executive Trainee - Finance, shortlisted candidates may be called for both Personal Interview and document verification and must secure minimum qualifying marks in the interview.
