- 3Fill and lock institution and programme choices within the choice-filling window of that round.
- 4Check the counselling result and seat allotment on the declared allotment date.
- 5Report in person at the allotted institution within the reporting window, between 09:00 AM and 05:00 PM, with the documents listed in the University's 'Documents required during Counselling and at the time of Admission' notice.
- 6If no seat is allotted or the allotted seat is not taken, register again for the next round; there are three rounds for the first year of undergraduate programmes.

Is there a PTU CET entrance exam to prepare for?
No. IKGPTU's Centralized Online Counselling page states that the University has been authorized to conduct counselling for AICTE / PCI / COA courses on the basis of inter-se-merit of the qualifying examination. Nothing called PTU CET appears in the University's 2026-27 admission material.
What decides my B.Tech seat then?
Your class 12 marks. The Registrar's eligibility notification says admission is on the basis of the qualifying examination, and the course entries give admission on Senior Secondary (10+2) merit, with seats allotted by inter-se-merit in online counselling rounds.
Which universities does this counselling cover?
I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU), Jalandhar and Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda, for their affiliated colleges and campuses. MRSPTU participates for B.Tech, B.Pharmacy, Pharm.D, BBA, BCA, M.Tech, MBA and MCA only.
How many counselling rounds are there and when do they start?
Three rounds for the first year of undergraduate programmes. Round 1 registration opened on 15 June 2026 at 11:30 AM, Round 2 on 2 July 2026 and Round 3 on 18 July 2026. Postgraduate counselling started on 2 July 2026 at 11:30 AM.
Can the published dates change?
Yes, and they did twice in 2026 - the Round 1 choice-filling deadline moved from 21 June to 22 June, and the Round 2 reporting deadline moved from 16 July to 17 July. The University's advertisement says any corrigendum will be issued on the University website only.
