- 5STEP 4: Complete registration, then 'Click on second stage Online registration and enter personal details, qualification and' the remaining fields.
- 6Pay the application fee through the payment gateway using Debit Card / Credit Card / Internet Banking. Candidates who need not pay the fee may download the registration slip directly.
- 7After payment, download the computer-generated Registration Slip with its unique number and retain it — it must be produced at the time of the Personal Interview.

Its newest Management Trainee advertisement, Rectt. Advt. No. 01/2020, instead says 'The selection process will consist of Online Test followed by Personal Interview' — RINL's own paper, not GATE. Read the advertisement for whichever cycle you are applying to before deciding what to prepare.

What was in RINL's own online test?
Two segments. An Aptitude segment covering General Awareness, Numerical Ability/Aptitude, General English, Data-Interpretation, and Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning; and a Technical segment with a separate paper for each discipline. Each segment carried 100 questions with one mark for every right answer and no negative marking, and a candidate had to score 50% in each segment separately (40% for SC, OBC and PwD candidates) to qualify.
What degree is required?
In the 2020 cycle, a full-time Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technology in one of Ceramics, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Instrumentation & Electronics, Mechanical, Metallurgy or Mining, from a University, Deemed to be University or Institute of National Importance recognized by AICTE, with a minimum of 60% marks in the aggregate of all years, semesters and subjects (50% in aggregate for SC and PWD candidates). Final-year students could apply if they could produce the provisional certificate and mark sheets in original by the interview.
What happens after selection?
Management Trainees are placed on training for one year and then on probation for one more year. The 2020 advertisement offered a basic pay of Rs.20,600 per month in what it itself calls the pre-revised scale of Rs 20,600-3%-46,500, moving on successful completion of training to the pre-revised scale of Rs 24,900-3%-50,500. Those figures come from a 2020 document and are not a statement of current pay.
Is there negative marking?
In RINL's own online test under the 2020 advertisement, no. The advertisement states plainly: 'No negative marks for giving wrong answer.' For the GATE-based cycles the marking scheme is GATE's own, set by the GATE organising institute.
