1. #1Career reality and aptitude auditFirst 30 days

   Study the daily work, route, subjects and constraints for UI/UX / Product Designer. Complete the current-level assessment.

   Output: One-page career comparison, baseline subject scores and parent/guardian discussion.

   Exam action: No exam coaching purchase; verify only official eligibility and recognised routes.

   Move on when: Proceed only if the student understands the work, time, cost and at least one backup.

   If it stalls: If interest is based only on salary/status, explore two alternative career families.

2. #2Foundation strengtheningMonths 2–3

   Strengthen the most transferable foundations: Design aptitude; observation; visualisation; composition; logic; user research; prototyping; portfolio storytelling

   Output: Complete weekly problem sets and a mini output using: Figma; Adobe alternatives; Blender/CAD where relevant; sketchbook

   Exam action: Use NCERT/ePathshala/DIKSHA; no entrance over-specialisation.

   Move on when: School marks and diagnostic performance improve; study routine is sustainable.

   If it stalls: If foundations remain weak, reduce extracurricular load and remediate before advanced preparation.

3. #3First practical evidenceMonths 4–6

   Develop drawing/visual thinking, storytelling, general awareness and design observation; learn basic digital tools.

   Output: Complete an age-appropriate original project: Redesign a school service; product sketch series; app prototype; accessibility audit; architecture model where relevant

   Exam action: Explore relevant competitions: School art/design contests; maker challenges; UCEED/NID sample practice

   Move on when: Project is original, documented and reviewed by a teacher/mentor.

   If it stalls: If the student only copies tutorials, repeat with a smaller original problem.

4. #4Stream and route explorationMonths 7–12

   Compare compatible streams, degrees, institutions, costs and backups. Direct subject rule: All streams can pursue many BDes routes; drawing is not the only skill—research and problem solving matter.

   Output: Stream decision matrix with target, backup, marks trend and cost/scholarship plan.

   Exam action: Review admission routes: UCEED, NID DAT, NIFT/institute tests, CUET/university admissions or portfolio-based private routes.

   Move on when: A primary stream and backup stream are chosen from evidence, not peer pressure.

   If it stalls: If the chosen stream blocks the target, confirm a bridge or change the target before Class 11.

5. #5Final stream selectionClass 10 decision phase

   Select Class 11–12 subjects that preserve eligibility for UI/UX / Product Designer; protect board preparation.

   Output: Written subject/stream plan, school availability check and bridge-risk note.

   Exam action: Check official exam/institution subject requirements for the expected application year.

   Move on when: Selected stream is available, affordable and compatible with target and backup.

   If it stalls: If school does not offer required subjects, compare another school/open-board/alternative career route.

6. #6Board plus entrance/skill preparationClass 11–12

   Follow the beginner/intermediate plan: Develop drawing/visual thinking, storytelling, general awareness and design observation; learn basic digital tools. Prepare UCEED/NID/NIFT/NATA as applicable; create research-backed case studies and prototypes.

   Output: Complete a stronger project/portfolio item and official PYQs or sample papers.

   Exam action: Primary route: UCEED, NID DAT, NIFT/institute tests, CUET/university admissions or portfolio-based private routes.. Do not prepare for incompatible exams simultaneously.

   Move on when: Boards remain strong, syllabus is covered and mock/project evidence meets the target threshold.

   If it stalls: If mock scores or interest remain poor after a full cycle, activate the documented backup course.

7. #7Degree, diploma or professional routePost-Class 12 qualification and entry

   Complete: BDes or related degree, or strong portfolio with internships; product design may benefit from technical/business exposure. Add Complete BDes/BArch/related degree, internships, portfolio, usability/technical documentation and interviews.

   Output: Use internships/experience: Design studio/NGO/startup internship in college; user research projects Portfolio: 3–5 case studies showing process, failures, testing and final outcome

   Exam action: Complete selection/application route: All streams for many BDes routes; architecture requires prescribed subject combination; institute-specific admission.

   Move on when: Final readiness: UX/UI Intern, Junior Product Designer, Visual Designer. with verified qualification and evidence.

   If it stalls: Use backup: Graphic Design, Frontend/UI Development, Product Management. if eligibility, finance or selection does not work.
