How to apply

  1. 1Apply only through the official websites of CBSE, KVS and NVS - cbse.gov.in, kvsangathan.nic.in and navodaya.gov.in. Applications submitted on any other website or by any other means are not accepted.
  2. 2Register on the application portal and create a login ID and password before filling the form.
  3. 3Submit only one application, selecting the posts applied for from the drop-down. Within PGTs choose only one subject/post, and likewise within TGTs.
  4. 4Keep a valid personal email ID and mobile number active for the whole recruitment; do not share login credentials.
  5. 5Fill in name, parents' names, date of birth, caste and gender exactly as they appear on the Class X certificate - changes of category or sub-category are not entertained later.
  6. 6Scan and upload a recent photograph and signature as instructed, then submit. No modification is possible once the form is submitted.
  7. 7Pay the examination fee and processing fee online for each post applied for.
  8. 8Do not post the printout to CBSE, KVS or NVS. Carry it to document verification at the interview with self-attested copies of certificates for age, qualification, experience, caste, non-creamy layer, disability and EWS as applicable.
FAQs
Is there a live KVS teacher recruitment right now?

No. The current cycle is Recruitment Notification 01/2025, issued on 13 November 2025 jointly by KVS and NVS. Applications closed on 11 December 2025, Tier-1 was held on 10 and 11 January 2026 and Tier-2 on 27 to 31 March 2026. As of 3 August 2026 the Tier-2 result had not been published and no fresh teaching-post advertisement had been issued.

Who conducts the KVS TGT/PGT/PRT examination?

CBSE conducts it on behalf of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti. One notification and one examination cover teaching and non-teaching posts in both organisations, and successful candidates give their preference between KVS and NVS after the merit list is prepared.

How is the selection made?

For PGT, TGT and PRT there is a two-tier examination followed by an interview. Tier-1 is a qualifying screening test that shortlists 1:10 against vacancies; Tier-2 is a post-specific subject paper; candidates are called for interview at 1:3. The final merit list is 85% Tier-2 marks and 15% interview marks, with the interview carrying 100 marks.

What does Tier-1 contain?

100 questions for 300 marks in 2 hours: General Reasoning 20, Numeric Ability 20, Basic Computer Literacy 20, General Knowledge 20, Language Competency in English 10 and Language Competency in one other Modern Indian Language 10. Each question carries 3 marks and 1 mark is deducted for a wrong answer.

What does Tier-2 contain?

A subject knowledge paper of 2 hours 30 minutes: 60 objective questions for 60 marks and 10 descriptive questions for 40 marks, 100 marks in all. In the objective part 0.25 marks is deducted for each wrong answer.

What are the age limits and the CTET requirement?

Upper age limit is 40 years for PGT, 35 years for TGT and 30 years for PRT, reckoned as on the closing date named in the notification. TGT candidates must have qualified CTET Paper-II and PRT candidates CTET Paper-I, with the certificate issued on or before the closing date for the online application. The PGT qualification clauses in this notification do not require CTET.

What do these posts pay?

PGT is Level-8 (Rs. 47600-151100), TGT is Level-7 (Rs. 44900-142400) and PRT is Level-6 (Rs. 35400-112400) in the Pay Matrix. Selected candidates may be posted anywhere in India and requests for change of station are not entertained.
